I don't understand how people are having a hard time against Garen

Let's see what are Garen's weaknesses:

Everything in his kit is melee range
No real gap-closer except a movement speed that got nerfed
Tenacity removed from his W
Extremely kiteable with hard CC and things such as red buff.
Less of a lane bully than before, so he's actually manageable early game
He literally tells you who he is going to focus during fights. Coordinate your team based on this.
AoE damage reduced his E's damage, reducing his teamfight potential, so group up.

No seriously, if you allow a melee champion with no real gap closer to reach you, he should be able to deal damage to you. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with old Garen. This rework was made, so Garen could have mid and late-game presence. He is now a real menace, so stol under-estimating him, respect him and fight. Change your methods of fighting.

Sheesh, fucking low elos.

Yeah, it has to be low ELOs who don't know how to play against him.

Wait a minute. He has a 58% win rate in Plat+ games since the patch! How could this possibly be!

Issue is that people still think they can facetank his damage late-game when you really can't anymore, bonus points to those trying to fight Garen 1v1 when you're the Villain. It's all just stupid plays, or people underestimating him due to previous encounters with him prior to the patch. I think the complaints will stop once people get a grip of the situation and start counterpicking him more often instead of just trying to 'go even' with him like you could before, but still automatically win since he had no late game.

Eh, he seemed amazing on PBE, so i am not too surprised.

Really, what is confusing me is that people are asking to remove his Silence. Why do people hate Silences so much? Garen really needs it and his Q got huge nerfs compared to 5.15

Garen has a good laning phase (exceptions against ryze, teemo, kennen)

Garen's E got heavily buffed in 1v1 situations, about the same dps at rank 5 in multiple target situations

New items give Garen sticking power as well as cost efficient tanky ad stats (steraks gage, titanic hydra, dead mans plate)

Flash still exists in this game

Focusing/CCing Garen helps Garen get his job done (lets not forget the 30% damage reduction on his w)

Because people play melee champions too, and %health true damage is a shitty mechanic.

All the people who want garen nerfed are Riven players. Thats what i think :D
