The level of RNG is too damn high!
What is up with the random bot generator in my ranked games. I mean game is old, and still developers have no idea how to balance matchmaking. If the task is too overwhelming for RITO, mb just outsource the whole thing to the community; That will do for prologue.
Real question what is here, that in my opinion adding extra divisions is small mitigation of larger underlying problem which is matchmaking. It appears to be designed for players to find games fast with seemingly random opponents disregarding any skill cap. Removing 5th division does not really solve anything. Iron will propobly be almost empty, bronze , silver, gold with HUGE players base with HUGE DIFFERENCE IN SKILL. Now the fun part of this - if some one had problem with being stuck in certain elo - IT WILL GET WORSE! Plat and above divisions will become more scarce still carrying on the aforementioned problem. If anything after having read the upcoming changes and watching various thoughts from significant community members, MY first thought was - "If it was bad before, prepare for a shitstorm now."
Matchmaking itself is severely flawed, how about starting with fixing that, instead of clumping already mismatched players base in HUGER pools.
Now to the end part. - For a game to enjoyable you have to have opponents with same skill level. When you have Plat and silver mixed in same game, the balance pretty much shifts off. Almost every game 9/10 you see team with 3-4 people that do incredibly bad and one player or two UBER fed players in same team, same goes for enemy team. Problem is not the mechanic that allows that. It should be this way, however its the reason why this current format of the game - is skill gap inside the team is too wide.
I honestly have no idea what RITO has in mind about all this "under the hood", but as it currently stands i feel this will be the worst patch ever in history of LOL for ranked players.
