Unlike other champions, countering Yasuo doesn't start with the match itself but with the champ select. You'll be given 30 seconds to ban a champion so you must act quickly and ban Yasuo. DONE!

Now seriously, Freeze the wave in front of your turret so you are safe from ganks and can farm safely. Before hitting him with abilities, use an auto attack to proc his passive and wait for the shield to time out. Yasuo is the weakest right after he fired his tornado since he has to use his Q 2 more times to get it back. Dodge his tornado then engage on him. If you are low on HP and he's chasing you, avoid minion waves. For example if you are splitting bot and he comes at you don't run through the lane, go through the jungle.

Annie is good against yasuo. Malzahar can avoid yasuo windwall aswell and will delay his powerspike for buying a QSS.

You ban.

Elohaven5/28/2018, 3:19:03 PM12 votes
  • Harass Yasuo early with ranged autos
  • Freeze the minion wave right in front of your turret
  • Try to go for a stopwatch through runes or early if you're scared of getting dived
  • Try to bait out his windwall (EG use Lux W to scare him)
  • Auto him before using spells to take off his shield
  • If he roams, hard push the lane and inform allies

Yasuo is weakest when there's no enemy minions for him to dash through as it destroys his playmaking potential. By freezing it in front of your tower, Yasuo becomes an immobile champion in that area and is easily prone to ganks. However, he can still dish out a lot of damage if you're not careful so exploit your range properly.

BLACK REALM GOD5/28/2018, 12:39:17 PM9 votes

you ban yasuo and dont think about the alternatives.

Astorine5/28/2018, 9:34:12 AM7 votes

No solution here, yas is painful. But the new patches may weaken him so look out.

SweedishGunner5/28/2018, 11:58:24 AM6 votes

Annie is probably the best champ to deal with Yas out of those 4 since you have the easiest time cs'ing and you have a reliable stun to counteract his bullshit dashing. I'm pretty sure his Windwall only works vs Annie's Q as well, he can't block W or R.

Yas I consider to be a noob killer. He moves around so quickly that when I started playing, I would get overwhelmed. But now, I find him rather predictable and, dare I say it, weak?

But, if I had to give you a simple answer, it's to not take unnecessary risks. He snowballs hard, but that only happens if you let him get an early kill. If he has to scale up slowly, he's not going to be that big of a threat, and the player will often even get tilted and make more mistakes of their own.

He likes to poke, then run away like a wimp, which some sticky champs can deal with since Yas will take damage before he escapes, though such champs are usually top laners (Yas gets played top more then you would think). Regardless, like I said, his dashes are predictable since they're so linear. Even that annoying tornado is surprisingly easy to dodge. For the champs you have, that strat just can't be done. Though Ryze's point and click CC can make for a life saving disengage.

But, while I'm saying he's easy to deal with, that is only because of hindsight for me, but after I did learnhow he works, I have won most of my games where I end up against him. Learn his abilities and maybe even watch some replays. The more you understand him, the easier it gets to ruin Yasuo main's days

I pride myself on ruining Yasuo players games. Hehehehe.

Yas mains will argue, but Yas's only weakness in lane is incompetent play...

In lane he's got high bases, mobility, easy last hitting, no mana, and great safety IF played right... And if you try to gank him with a champ that doesn't have hard cc?; get ready to watch him E threw you and escape....

You just have to hope the person you're playing against is a weaker player then you or messes up! then capitalize on those mistakes. If anyone feel's I'm way out of line that ISN'T a hardcore Yasuo fan, by all means correct me.

Toxic Diana5/28/2018, 1:00:52 PM3 votes

Just ban him. I'm being serious here, unless you have another champion that you really really need to ban, just ban yasuo. Yasuo mains are usually always one-tricks who'll stomp you unless you know what you're doing. A lot of them are smurfs too. You could learn to counter him but banning him saves so much effort and time.

Other than that, if you're playing an AP mid laner, you might want to run an early ninja tabis against him for armor. Dodge his tornadoes & poke his shield out. engage on him when his wind wall is down & ezkill.

Also, Yasuo is very easy to gank. his kit doesnt allow him to escape ganks at all, so it's pretty much a free kill if you freeze lane and allow him to over extend for farm. Assuming this is low elo, the yasuo is like 99% likely to over extend at some point in lane.

PaffWasTaken5/28/2018, 11:35:44 PM2 votes

Make your jungler camp him. He is one of the most item-dependant champ in the game (but he indeed gets insane powerspikes from them) so neglecting his scaling by gutting his in-lane income is one of the safest thing to do. Other than that, you can't really "counter" him with playstyle (exept if the player is really bad). One of the most effective way to play around him however is hard CC, so anything that is mass-cc without being a projectile is good (Viktor Annie Ryze Pantheon Ekko )

Prehzident5/28/2018, 9:45:52 AM2 votes

Usually, I ban Yas for mid...however, if you don't mind being called names...Fizz will piss any Yas off. Otherwise, patience and guts are all you need. Fizz Lux Zed

Velkoz Is a very viable pick but he does take some getting used to and he is very combo reliant and easy to stuff up. You are a mid range mage with a very short AA range so be careful Your auto attacks bypass windwall allowing you to keep his shield down indefinitely. Your Q can go around it and it is well worth practicing his secondary Q, it's satisfying af to land and very strong.Your ult also bypasses windwall so if you land WE or QW or perhaps Q 1/2W E you can melt his face. If he engages onto you QW him to bait his windwall, then EW him to catch him out allowing you to turn and ult. You also drastically outscale him in terms of team fight damage

**If you want to make these stupid yasuo's cry, pick Urgot **. Urgot hard counters every single AD champion that wants to engage onto you. Assassins especially. You have a strong shield of your own and an execution ultimate to prevent his escape. However YOU MUST! know you're facing a yasuo (ranked or draft pick) because if you face a mage like Leblanc Ahri you are going to be stomped. However that means he's an amazing top lane pick where mages are less common and divers are more common. I've only ever been stomped by Olaf who's ult blocks my own and he simply out bullies and is unkiteable

CppL5/28/2018, 12:45:00 PM2 votes

Just pick a champ alot of cc.Lissandra works for me prety well.

The Deckowner5/28/2018, 11:49:21 PM2 votes

To learn how to beat X champion, just play X champion and watch how people beat you.

IxozieI5/29/2018, 1:55:23 AM2 votes

General tip: before trading auto him once so his shield goes away. It doesn't matter how much total shield value he currently has, it will all go away if you auto then wait a bit. Dodge tornadoes, especially once he's 6.

How are you losing badly against Yas as Ryze? You can just root him (after E obviously) and prevent him from doing anything for a long time. Then you back off and repeat.

Annie is also good against him because she flat-out outstats him, especially at lvl 6. You've got a stun, a good amount of damage and your E reduces damage taken. Once you have ult up just bait his windwall then completely demolish him. Take ignite too and he's guaranteed to feed you unless you're doing something horribly wrong.

Don't play TF or Lux against Yas. Lux can pull it off if you know what you're doing and play safe but both are uphill battles. Yas is effective against champs that he can easily reach (they have no escapes) and against champs that he can use windwall effectively against. Lux and TF fall into both categories.

I Q5/29/2018, 12:20:12 AM1 votes

For Twisted Fate, you can actually juke out his windwall. Auto attack him down at level one, and then play passive level two. Once you hit level 3 try to pick up your stacks, get to full. Go up to auto him, and when the animation starts, press q to cancel it. The w "animation" will make him windwall, when in reality he'll just block your Q. It is best to max W in this scenario if you can pull it off.

Throw a ward over to the raptor pit, if you need mana throw a blue card at it

NCBuckets5/29/2018, 1:07:35 AM1 votes

ok well first of all you're not going to beat him with tf. youre just not. with annie just one shot him, with lux poke with e then wait for windwall then full combo to one shot him, with ryze...idk im a yas main and too stupid to beat ryze but the numbers say you wont beat yas with ryze

Xiniseid5/29/2018, 9:59:40 PM1 votes

You don't. Not unless you're a masochist and want to be subjected to digital torture facing this monstrosity.

Ban him.

3TWarrior5/29/2018, 3:33:55 AM1 votes

there are some champs that can alternate from the support lane to mid: zilean for instance and unless the yasuo has godly timing, his Q bypasses windwall and he's a decent roamer with his E

TempName548465/29/2018, 3:56:40 AM1 votes

pop his shield with an auto and wait for it to decay before using your spells, position in your minions and keep your skillshots for when he stops spazzing out, this won't work at high eloz but in silver this should win you the lane 90% of the time.

PANAGIA PARTHENA5/29/2018, 12:49:06 PM1 votes

Ban him, not worth your effort winning against him vs his effort winning against you in lane. From what i know though, annie counters him pretty hard. You can play her if yasuo is open i guess.

HalcyonDweller5/29/2018, 5:45:28 PM1 votes

Xerath can be a good choice if you can predict Yasuo's movements. He can't windwall anything of yours except your stun, so you just poke with W->Q and hold E-stun unless he tries to all-in you or you get ganked.

And if he tries to roam and gank other lanes you can waveclear quickly to shove the lane in and punish him. Plus as long as you know where he is and can see him going into the lane, you can roam simply by walking halfway to that lane and ulting to help damage in that fight.

Xerath ult is powerful, but it's very much like blitzcrank hook. You have more power as long as people are anticipating it but you haven't used the shots yet. So it helps a lot to ult, wait a second, then if the enemies are not trying to dodge enough fire off one shot, then use shots to zone them and force them to juke so that they either take the damage from the shots or have to run backwards into your teammates's damage. Xerath is sleeper OP. People just don't play him that much.

Elewd5/29/2018, 9:00:08 PM1 votes

Diana is a good pick into yasuo since shes melee and her shield will let her win trades, but its a very skill expresive lane. Morgana is a decent lane because you just sit under your turret and prevent him from pushing as hard, and if he all ins you can just press R and Q him.

Sergeant Wea5/29/2018, 9:09:28 PM1 votes

I'll post a great video that tells you how, but the TL;DR is this-

  1. Pop his shield when his tornado isn't up
  2. Farm to the side of the wave, the further back the better (while still maintaining adequate farm). This negates his ability to hop on top of you, and will most likely tilt Yas into a foolish play
  3. Bait wind-wall, abuse the long cooldown window.

Annie Malzahar Ekko Ziggs Cassiopeia Lulu Heimerdinger

Annie Dodge Yas ranged Q and you can't even get in rage to farm. Malzahar Can keep minions pushed and delete him at any point. makes it a pain for him to farm. Ekko Good waveclear and can Zone Yas off friendly minions. Ziggs Waveclear and can sit next to his own mines. Have farm from tower and wait on ganks. Cassiopeia W counters his Mobility... stay at risk with R. Lulu Polymorph. Heimerdinger Donger.
