Eureka!!!-Provisionals MMR Lowering Reasons-Opiinions, Logical Fallacies Found are Welcomed

This is not meant to be a conspiracy theory. I honestly think this is part of the reason they do this.

They lower everyone's MMR, then look for the newer players that manage to climb through the BS of 100+ games to reach Challenger/Master, and then watch to see if they continue to dominate. Then teams looking for newer members (as current team members do the whole "plans for the rest of your life" thing) can pluck these "anomalies" (most won't reach original rank for a little while longer) out of the masses and offer them the now vacant positions/ backups. To be clear Riot doesn't do this, they just provide the environment (extremely competitive, salty/pissed off players wanting to return to their original division) to allow the teams to do this. And also while almost everyone is lowered to increase this competition/engineered accelerated selection(survival of the fittest type stuff)

You may suggest, "Why not just look for people who dominate Solo-Que for a period of time." they do this obviously (Bjergsen for ex.) but the people currently dominating=mostly already on a team. A new guy/girl that can beat these people may be in the game probably exists (the next Faker/Doublelift/place your chosen stupidly good player here) but is, once again extremely rare, and its not as if these people won't fight back. So build a list of potential candidates before it becomes a problem, then look for the ones now dominating from that streamlined list later on as the current dominators move forward (Wildturtle can't do this whole multiple smurfs in top positions forever you realize, but someone already on a team will immediately take the spot though, leaving no room for the newbies unless(again) he/she is god-like.

Disclaimer: Have not played Ranked myself, watched others be crushed by it and this is my current theory for it. Put it in Miscellaneous because you can delete a post that is put there unless its actually vulgar (changed my mind, probably will end up re-posting to Miscellaneous). If anything I think that this is ingenious considering how over time players saturate the system making harder for potential professionals to rise, and this creates room for these unusual people to rise at a impractical/god-like rate, in comparison to their peers.

SIDENOTE: When do you think there will be a female Faker/Bjergsen/etc.? I would say within the next decade or so.

Low Elo gets free MMR, High Elo drops MMR, they don't lower everyone's MMR.

The formula is like (Old MMR + 1200) / 2. Bronze starts at a higher MMR to see if they can handle it, Silver more or less starts the same, everything Gold and up drops farther the higher you were.

So, you're saying they trying to get rid of Elo Boosters? or trying to find the next Fakers?

Sidenote: i luv conspiracy threads.

It's a valid theory as you say adjusting everyones MMR so that essentially you have to grind you way back to the top does make the solo queue scene more competitive and it's possible that it will be able to breed new legitimate talent. We'll see.

Honestly this is a good question and comes down to the question of if there are any females willing to put in the 10-15 hours of gaming a day to reach that level. In my experience there aren't that many people who are that dedicated to any activity and while gaming is becoming more accepted, it still suffers from the stigma of being mostly for shy "nerds" and "geeks". This has meant that you don't see a lot of women playing it until they are older and probably have less time to practice.

But we will probably see one in the next few years. I still expect LoL to remain dominated by men for the future.

No need for conspiracy theories.

It's pretty simple -- players tend to stop playing when they reach their true elo. Setting the typical player to be underplaced by a couple divisions results in a feeling of progression for longer, which encourages people to stay more attached to the game.

I think the main problem is a cultural one. Not enough women are trying to play LoL seriously, so we're looking at a pool that is probably 95% male at the top end.

Also, supposing there is some amazing female player, how comfortable will she be moving into a team house? Will the rest of the team still interact the same way they would if the team were still 5 dudes?

I honestly think this is Riot's way of saying that "Oh look at this game! Look at all the players in all ranked! They're all capable of thinking!"

They want to make the Ranked experience easier for newer players by throwing veterans in the lower ranks in hopes of giving a "better" experience for them.
