So...Searching a Champion

I just accidentally dodged a game and was penalized because when I was typing in chat during my ban, it forced me to type whatever in the search bar. That was when the 130+ champions all vanished from my options. Why? I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out, until the very last tick, why I could not ban a champion. Then I saw where I screwed up. And I didn't have the time to delete what it was I typed to ban a champion...any champion...to save me from timing out.

Can we not have this happen? Where, when it's our turn to pick or ban, not have it automatically switch from chat to search?

I do not know if this was intended or if it is a bug. So, if this is another infamous 'Wrong Forum' deal, then I'll re-post this elsewhere.
