The assassin changes blow my mind

Like what the fuck where you trying to do, you literally have no idea how an assassin archetype works and its fucking mind blowing after so many years. I started this game in open beta all those years ago, I have over 10k games palyed in solo I get gold every year and then stop because I like free skins and nothing more. The changes to assassins are so confusingly bad, over the years you have done nothing but prove to me you have no idea how assassins or tanks (that's a different rant) work in a pvp environment and these changes really set that in stone even more to me.

There are 3 assassins off the top of my head, before the changes, that I always thought were the go to THIS WORKS type deal, those being Katarina , Talon, and Shaco, all three of these had VERY obvious strengths on top of VERY obvious weaknesses/counters. "Were you squishy and caught out? YOU deserved the death from them they had a hard time killing someone in a fight and not dying after if they chose the wrong time to go in, they were GOOD assassins. Now you have added all these delays to assassins, Katarina needs to wait for a dagger to fall, she might be one of the least affected, Fizz needs to wait for his W to hit the time cap, LB needs to wait for her passive before bursting, Shaco is literally an AP champion now, Talon completely lost a damage ability in favor for mobility, although compared to most he can still work kinda ok. If you aren't Rengar, Kha, Ekko, or Diana (who for some strange reason Riot thinks is a fighter even though she assassinates whatever the fuck she wants at 6) you were fucked hard by these changes.

I was fine with the Juggernaut changes, other then Morderkaiser like what the fuck even? I still think they were some of the best "class" changes in the game for the affected, I was ok with the marksmen changes they made almost every single adc a good pick at one point, I was even ok with the mage changes even with the oddities like Malz, but the assassin change really shows me you have literally not fucking idea what you are doing.

Assassins are suppose to be very high risk high reward, find someone wandering off, make them pay instantly, now an adc can just flash you and fuck your world up because herpderp you have delays on your burst (unless your Rengar or Kha) the fact Vayne, an adc, benefited more from these changes (on the stealth part) really makes me question your ideals even more.

I just dont know anymore, I've lost nearly all faith in you as a company when it comes to balancing and fun, I knew you back when the OFFICIAL forums and not reddit almost always had a red post in EVERY single thread, normally trolling for fun, but even having amazing discussions, I may be biased at this point after so many years, but as a game company over the years you had done nothing but blow my mind with a lot of your design changes.

As a closing statement as im very tired and just for fun, I miss shurelia/dark shurelia on the boards. :c

Hello, this is Riot Games. I just wanted to take a few moments to clarify some issues you bring up:

Yes, we do dislike assassins. They are an archetype that does not foster exciting spectator matches. We would much rather have fights long and drawn out. Fights where multiple heals, shields, and counter moves can be used are much better for us. These brings cheers to our fans, and more importantly, money to our bank account through purchases.

Additionally, it can feel really terrible for the opposing player when they die with "no counter-play". The majority of our player base does not understand enough about the game to effectively position or plan against assassins. When one positioning error can cost you a death (and subsequently the entire laning phase, and the game) we feel its our responsibility to protect paying customers from themselves. We want everyone to feel good about playing league regardless of their skill level.

With the assassin changes we feel our goals have been accomplished. Their burst damage has been reduced enough that there is no longer a reason to pick them in competitive play. Other classes of character burst much faster for more damage -many of which are also reasonably tanky. We hope you continue to enjoy assassins in normal games, and as strong candidates for leveling up new accounts.
