Y'know its gotten pretty bad if a game gets so bad it breaks addiction, fun and escapism.
The 'game' is an obligation rather than a hobby for me, and I really only play normals. If players like me can leave the game, then I am almost certain the amount of others doing the same are wracking up the numbers big time.
recaps on what killed it for me
My champion pool is among those that are almost always situational or nonviable. My main champion, Mordekaiser was changed from a solo laner with SrS in s6 to a mid lane poke champ/macro king to a boring guardian adc that diminishes any sort of immersion I have in the character's fantasy.
Top laners cannot solo carry games like they used to. Winning and losing is almost entirely out of your hands as a top laner, and the main way to stop a snowball and interact with other lanes has been completely gutted because of pro play. Speaking of which.
Riot has made it VERY clear they want to balance around pro play much more than casual play, thats just it. They've really only made an effort to respond to pro players, so if you're not challenger then all attempts to bring light into what Riot should do to make the game enjoyable from 99% of the community will be ignored for just the top 1%...That kinda sounds familiar.
And lastly, world/character development is so little and so far between, couple pages every few months to set up for inevitable League MMORPG, because all the design steps they take seem to lead straight towards the release of one, especially when they hired Greg Street, who worked on WoW.
here's the part where I would say the community/developers wouldnt miss me, a single player from dropping the game completely, at least till things got better, until I saw the signs inside Riot's refusal to communicate and increased advertisement.
If you too are dropping the game, dear reader, then realize you're not alone and you are making the RIGHT decision.
Sincerely, AbyssmalHydra, an Iron Revenant.
