Am I the only one who's very unhappy with Kog getting reverted?

First off, I love playing the lil void pup, he's been one of my favorite champions for a long time. When I heard they were making him effectively an on hit carry I was super excited, and I was right to be! I played the hell out of the Marksman updated Kog and loved every second of it, but fast-forward a few months... They revert his q, the passive attack speed was nice to have again, it was fine and enjoyable. Then more recently they reverted his w all together. To which I ask, "Why?"

He felt right, his massive attack speed buff, range bonus and shred felt satisfying and made his kit feel right. What he is now feels slow and clunky, and rather dull. It's like getting a shiny new present for Christmas then only to have someone take it away from you a short while later. It's probably an unpopular opinion but its mine.

If the idea was in-fact to move him from a long-range machine gun to a proper artillery platform, you failed horribly and missed that mark on that fantasy as well. His ult is better than pre-marksman update, yes, but his w now feels like a moot point, only there for a slight damage bump.

Made this thread out of the want to see if anyone else felt this way about this topic..

Kog needed the revert to his W because it made on-hit items essentially be balanced around Kog existing making it terrible on anyone that was not Kog himself. It also pushed him into a mid-game champion that spiked way too hard on the mid game while still staying decently strong in the late game instead of the late game monster that he was supposed to be. It also made him clunky as hell to play since the most optimal way of playing him was to stay put, press W and hope you are able to destroy their entire team before they can kill you, if you tried to kite or dodge anything then you were just sacrificing way too much damage. At least Vayne needs to move around in order to do what she does.

Kog was simply put in a state that if he was allowed to keep the way his W worked then he would have been nerfed to the ground and stayed there along with Kalista and Azir. At least he can still be usable now, and can still become a late game monster if he is allowed to reach said late game. He isn't in a good spot right now mostly because games just simply do not last long enough for him to become a late game monster

Made his kit feel right? An ADC shouldn't be able to use one ability and quite literally 1v5 an entire team, regardless how fed you are. He needed the revert because he was out of control.

when you all but remove the ability to kite and kog's win condition comes down to being able to stand still and annihilate a target before they kill you that is unbelievably bad design. retard cannon kog was an abomination.

He did need the revert. But he didn't need all the changes post revert to literally make him unplayable as a viable ADC.

Riot reverted Kog because:

  1. his W made OnHit items difficult to balance for non-Kog champions
  2. he was bad at the LCS level

That's pretty much it.
