MMR needs a rework.
Everyone knows the old saying "Play to improve, not just to win." This is true and you should do it, but by the time you finally improve and have the skill to break out of your rank, your MMR is so bad that you can't climb anymore. Once you start earning 17 or lower, it's pretty much a GG for you and that account. (Barring some insane 15+ game win streak, that would be pure luck.) So basically if you were stuck in P4 for months, improving the entire time, the moment you are good enough to climb your MMR will hold you back massively. Riot needs to fix this, cause if they did, the amount of smurfs in game's would dramatically decrease, and people wouldn't need multiple accounts.
Go 20 W's and 30 L's at the bottom of a rank and you can kiss your season goodbye. Riot needs to give people a way out of elo hell that is reasonable for them. Sure, a diamond player can scratch and claw out of gold even in elo hell, but a plat level player cannot. If our current system doesn't allow people who are one elo better to climb out of an elo regardless of their MMR then it needs an overhaul cause it's not doing it's job. My solution is to cap MMR at a bad but reasonable level at each division. So even you fall out of say P4, your MMR won't be G4 by the time you fall, it would be at the bottom of G1, which is your current elo. That way if you shape up your play, there is still hope that your MMR can get higher than your rank again. Also, maybe add an MMR bar so we can follow our progress with that, cause hardstuck players get no joy from the LP ladder, that would at least give them something to look at and hope for.
