With escapes: Katarina, Leblanc, Zed, Fizz, Riven, Fiora, Ekko, Ahri, Kassadin Without reliable escapes (so like her): Diana, Talon, Yasuo, Irelia

You should not play Akali not only over other assassins but over every single champion in this game.

u shouldn't. Now im not saying she is bad but she has a really shitty laning phase pre 6. if you can make it past that you are good to go.
Play her because not many other people do.
I'd prefer to play against a Yasuo, Ahri, Zed, Fizz, LB, Kat, or Riven simply because I have much more experience against them than an Akali. I don't know how to escape from an Akali, or how to really kill her with that shroud she can sit under for like 10 seconds.
Other than looking cool... there is none. Akali is in a terrible spot right now.
