I think you got the disenchanting a little wrong. Your site says that disenchanting will be give less BE than before.
Edit: This would be better broken up into a bunch of bullet points, so I'm going to do that.
By my understanding, after the update, shards will disenchant for more BE than before, but BE will be worth much less than before. This is also why they are going to multiply your current BE balance by 6.5x. On top of that there will be more Shards given out overall, so they want the value of those shards to be a little less when disenchanted. So they will probably increase the BE for disenchanting a shard to like 4.5x (just my guess; that number is made up). But they will probably also raise the amount to upgrade a shard by more than that (probably about 6x as much). So in the end, you have to disenchant slightly more shards to upgrade one shard, which is what Riot meant when they said that disenchanting will be worth less.
- 1 Blue Essence (BE) is currently worth a lot more than 1 IP. BE will have to change so that they are worth the same amount.
- Thus, everyone's current BE balance will be increased to 6.5x its current amount
- You can currently spend BE on upgrading shards and on champion mastery level 6 & 7. These things will probably (not confirmed) become 6.5x as expensive, to match the increase in BE balances and the decrease in the value of BE.
- Likewise, the sources of BE will increase by a similar amount. The main source is the disenchanting of shards. This increase is going to be split between:
- Slightly more shards given out overall (because of leveling rewards) (maybe 25% more?)
- More BE per disenchanted shard (your article says less BE for disenchanting, which is why I'm making this comment).
- Shards will probably disenchant for roughly 5x (I made up these numbers, don't quote me) their current amount of BE.
- But that BE will worth less by a factor of 6.5 (see above)
- Overall, that means shards will give 5/6.5 (or 77%) as much value when disenchanted. This is what Riot said/meant, but they did not explain it adequately.
- So in all: more shards, more BE per shard, less BE value per shard, and roughly the same value gained overall from shards. i.e. you will still earn champions from shards at a similar (or greater) rate than before, but the numbers in the middle of the process are very different.
- You will no longer be able to reroll 3 champion shards into a random champ.
- There will be other, new things to spend BE on, on top of all the old things you could spend BE or IP on.
- The Riot Pls video showed an image of the store with a [1 Mystery Champion] for sale for 3950 BE, but that's probably only for the temporary sale after runes are refunded.
Again, that is all my interpretation, I could have it wrong. Riot's article was a little vague, and just poorly written at times.
