Sub-30 player looking to prep for ranked

Hi all, my name is lolskaterz and I am looking for help selecting my core champions to prep for ranked games. I played a LOT of DotA when WC3 was still big so I understand the MOBA gameplay and mechanics, but I am not familiar with all the champions/runes/masteries. I'm looking for champion suggestions that I can start buying now to fill out my roster for ranked:

I'd like 3-4 tanks, 2-3 AD carries, 1-3 AP carries(I'm getting good with azir), 1-2 junglers (already have tryn) 1-2 mid laners, 3-4 support and 1-2 marksmen.

any suggestions would be great so I can start practicing!

Honestly, don't touch ranked fresh when you hit 30, play a good more 100 normals first.

AD Carry and Marksman are terms for the same role.

More important than the distinct champions to buy is that you get a few reasonable rune pages set up. For starters, the standard AD page is AD reds + quints, Armor yellows, MR glyphs (all runes flat). Standard AP page is exchanging red for Mpen or Hybrid pen and quints for AP.

From there on out, I really recommed buying the 7-page bundle. Plenty of space to work with. For example, a more jungler and AD carry specific rune page would contain 2-3 AS quints (and one quint of either Armor or AD), AD reds, either full flat Armor (jungler) or 4 Armor + 5 HP yellows and flat (strong magic damage poking support) or scaling MR (tanky enemy support) quints. A variation of the AD rune page could contain scaling MR over flat, if your direct lane opponent does mostly physical damage.

For champions, you mostly need to find what you like for each position. Currently perceived as strong champions include: Top: Ryze Irelia Maokai Jungle: Khazix Rammus Amumu Mid: Ahri Fizz Ziggs AD Carry: Tristana Corki Lucian Support: Janna Leona Thresh Still, you personal skill and comfort level with a champion mostly trumps inherent differences in champion damage.

Btw, Tryndamere isn't a good jungler - he works way better as a top laner.

Good websites for guides are LoLKing and solomid.net. Mobafire, not so much.

Or you can do what all Bronze players do, do bot games from 1-30, go into Ranked without warding or using the excuse "only supports should be warding".

Start off with cheaper champs they are just as good as the expensive ones. My suggestions for lower priced guys are Kayle, Ryze, Amumu, Jax, Morg, Cho, Trist. That will give you lot of flexibility because a lot of them can play multiple roles. I think that would be a great start with all them and a few other you try for free week.
