Rune Overhaul Question
While watching a Riot Playtest, they mentioned that there would eventually be an overhaul for runes to give more meaningful choice. This makes sense because there are a LOT of useless runes but I hope it's not something too drastic.
I'm not mad about Rune changes despite the massive IP vacuum they've proven for me but I want to make sure I'll still have at least the flexibility I currently do. For example, SpellVamp runes help me clear healthier on jungle Mundo or survive some high poke lanes with Kennen. Scaling mana regen. seals let me skip a mana item on something like Brand without feeling as constrained. I also LOVE scaling CDR runes and think they're the most interesting ones by far. They are pretty weak early game but they give you so many more build options knowing that you don't need to focus on dedicated CDR items. I like to use them on JG Zac and sometimes Ziggs. For Ziggs, the idea is to get more raw damage for a stronger mid game while still having the same CDR value as a Morello build.
I'm terrified that these runes and many others will disappear. They allow so much more stylistic flexibility and I'd hate to play the game without them. Even if it's true that there is usually an optimal setup, I like having the choice to go for my possibly a little suboptimal setup that fits my playstyle. However, I actually think runes offer way more in terms of gameplay customization than masteries do atm.
