Just returned to the game and I'd like to think that Riot...

didn't spend an inordinate and gratuitous amount of time, money and man-power throwing together this new client... but it's obvious they did.

And it's sad, because it's so bad.

My PC runs a ton of stuff with no problem at all, but it can only tolerate the new client on "Low-Spec Mode", whatever the fuck that means. I've heard from friends and others that they are in the same situation. What in the flying fuck? "Low-Spec Mode" - that's your solution to making a piece of shit software? LOL.

OK, so I can get beyond the fact that this thing runs like it was made by some college grads, but what REALLY amazes me is that it does not improve upon the old client in a single way. Champ select looks terrible (and where the fuck does my chat go?!?!?! WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!), why the fuck do I have to look at my champ's skin splash art the whole time (when some of them are awful) and why can it even be hard to tell if someone's locked in their champ or not yet (the visual clarity is so bad here)??

Why is everyone so much laggier and unresponsive compared to the original client? Did you really spend a few hundred k worth of work hours making this abomination?????

The people at Riot are smart; there's no way they think this client is good. If I were them I'd start working on a new one from scratch because this is an embarrassment to a company that makes billions of dollars per year.

I mean honest to god this thing runs like Arkham Knight unless it's in "Low-Spec Mode" sigh.

Here you go, the new client isn't quite finished. They stopped the old client because they didn't want to continue managing two different clients. The new client will be able to do many things that the old one couldn't. Probably like replays. in-client ping meter sounds good.

Players have tons of cool ideas for new client features… but we can't pursue them just yet. One of the great benefits of the client update is that it allows Rioters more freedom to efficiently develop and ship cool new features. But before we get there, we've got to complete the open beta by rebuilding all of the legacy client's existing features and make sure they run smoothly for everyone. That means that we can't yet commit to creating any of the cool client ideas players come up with. That also doesn't mean that we won't look into these ideas—just that we have to finish the job at hand first. This applies to a whole list of commonly-requested features like: an in-client ping meter, the ability to choose the champ that appears on your profile page, putting champion grades in match history, a skins tab in the Collection, and on and on. http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/features/client-open-beta-update-1

What the OP said, only nicer, and without the use of unnecessary curse words.
