Does Riot's Balance Team Play The Game?

I mean really... how do champions like Malzahar, Ryze, Ekko, Soraka... (the list goes on) get to live in their current state?

Riot talked for years about how they didn't like champions that create passive gameplay, yet they rework soraka into a healbot that does nothing but top up her laner all game and make it so the opposing laner doesn't even look to trade anymore.

Riot talks all the time about how they don't want champions building full tank while unloading huge damage, yet Ekko has been in a toxic state for over two patches now with minor tweaks that don't address the problem.

Riot talks all the time about how they want to create champions that have clearly defined windows of weakness. So what window of weakness is there on ryze? He's got huge lane bully presence, ridculous mid game pressure and scales wonderfully into the late game. Did I mention his ultimate is never on cooldown because of how ridiculous his kit works together? What window of weakness does ryze have?

Don't even get me started on this new Malzahar. Who even thought making someone immune to CC and damage as a PASSIVE could be remotely balanced.

Really, does Riot even play their own game?

They do play the game, and have probably tested the MYMU much longer than we have experienced it live. It's kind of their job. So of course they understand a champ's weaknesses and hidden strengths better than most of the community, and why some numbers that seem questionable on our side look balanced on theirs.

That said, they could improve their system so much if they didn't dismiss the PBE's concerns so readily, and actually work with data from a a large range of players.

When we have champs like these: Ekko Fizz Malzahar Zed Lucian Alistar Graves Shaco Teemo

My answer would be: no.
