LeaverBuster Countdown Window?

Ok, so I'm a level 2 leaver because my internet cut out a few times. I'm not going to complain about the leaver system because everyone else and their moms have already done that. I'd like to complain about countdown window that shows up when you try to join the queue. If I want to specify that I'm joining the queue, there has to be a better way than basically blocking out all functionality of the League app. I've spent about an hour in the last day staring at a blank screen reminding myself constantly how I'm going to change my rune pages as soon as I enter the match, instead of actually doing it. Earlier today, I got a message from a friend and couldn't answer it because I was 15 minutes through my queue. Can this window either be minimizable so the rest of the app can be used or let the countdown be paused if the player leaves it until they return to the queue? It's little changes like this that would make the game more enjoyable without too many big changes.
