Winners and losers of the mage rework, almost a year later for posterity
Winners:
update really boils down to giving him wave clear he didn't have before and some of his season 2 healing back
got a 40% damage reduction steroid (lmao) and a way to kill people after she blows her load and dies (wasn't the rework suppose to change that? lol)
Passive participants:
the same thing people were crying about pre rework they cry about now
would be a winner if she wasn't nerfed recently, finally, for being given a massive amount of additional presence during laning phase
"he's a mage, so I guess we have to change something about him", nearly the exact same as he was pre rework after riot spent a month trying to pretend his rework didn't completely gut the synergy of his kit
doesn't build boots, woooo
still shit
brief stint as a bot laner, otherwise he's still rarely played mid
no change in playrate, still rarely played mid
would be a loser if the utility of her kit didn't keep her relevant through riot's non stop attempts at making her unplayable
no change in playrate, still rarely played mid
would be a clear winner if she didn't recently get nerfed back to pre rework power levels, after about a year (common theme)
from niche mid laner (release), to s tier generalist pick (first rework), to bad mid laner (nerfed wave clear), to s tier generalist pick (rebuffed wave clear), to bad mid laner again (nerfed wave clear)
Losers:
lost almost everything that made him a niche mid laner
is now a support lol
oh shit we forgot he was in the game
anyone even remember this use to be an item?
went from niche item for DoT mages to the
of mage items back to being a niche item for DoT mages, but now it's worse than before
So in the end, what was the point? All that work, all those resources spent, and what did you end up with? A more flexible
and
turned into a support with a ton of imbalance in the interim???? Was it worth it Riot
