Malzahar balance suggestion

I tested 1v1 against Malzahar with one of my friends who plays him. Something I think would be a good balance option is instead of having a timer on voidlings make them lose a percentage of their hp per second like Yorick's ghouls do. I could never kill the voidlings before the timer ran out so what is the point of even having one.
