Riot before you canned entire class updates you had enchanters coming up...

And not a single enchanter has been reworked in the 2 years since you planned and canned this And seemingly nothing in the upcoming reworks....so that is probably nothing for another year+

Enchanters should really be looked at, they are either extremely "oppressive" or just flat out worthless and a lot of people like to attribute the fact that these champions should be weak due to their easy to pick up and play nature Couldn't these champions really benefit from kit reworks and increased skill expression? they are all very much close to all being the same champion at this point, how Nami is basically Sona with a better earlygame and a worse lategame (I wonder why only 1 tricks play Sona?), how Lulu and Janna are literally almost the exact same and Soraka is just Soraka...bad because heals are bad...

Please don't think that I want the nightmare that is class updates to return, I am just curious as to why Riot ditched these champions when it was clear they had intent to update them?

Fucking preach. I actually just posted my idea for a Janna Rework that would change the way she shields.

Class updates were stopped for a reason: they only made problems worse. Stop calling for more of these updates when they were clearly detrimental to the game which is essentially what you're doing despite claiming the opposite.

I guess their line of thinking went something like this:

  • class updates failed
  • the majority of the playerbase doesn´t care about supports (as long as they are weak)
  • they (riot) had no idea how to update them because they don´t care about supports either
  • keeping the skill floor for enchanters as low as possible to ensure that auto-filled players still have something to play
  • auto-fill exist, so there is no reason to adjust supports as long as they are not breaking the game in which case they will just get nerfed into oblivion.

if enchanters weren´t supports maybe they would have gotten a class update or some form of rework, but the sad truth is they have neither the ideas nor the interest to update that class. Nearly every change they made to enchanters was either a straight nerf or a change to make them more braindead to play. ( I mean just look at what they did to soraka )

and don´t get me started on how they fucked up itemization

I mean instead they practically reworked every support by giving them 800G(their new starter items), Redemption and the heal and shield power BS(don't remember if that was before or after the last class update), etc. They didn't change the champions that much(except Janna), but they changed their items a LOT, but of course those changes are exactly what made them all the same.

It kind of seems like you are saying you didn't like that they stopped doing Class Updates, which is ridiculous because nearly every single champion that was reworked in those is/was OP and busted. They need to go back and redo a lot of those because they absolutely destroyed some of those champions.

So while I think Enchanters as a whole need to be looked at, they need to be done individually with the same focus as VGU's.
