Do you think melee ADCs could be a thing?

I had a Xin on my team like 2 weeks ago who played ADC. He did good and we won.

I'm all for champions doing roles they are never selected for. Just wanted to see opinions.

the fact I retain I reached plat playing morde adc(second role top) with 60% is a proof

It may work, but a large majority of the time, a ranged adc would have worked better with less effort.

Something you should always think of when something "works" in league of legends.

Sure nunu Adc just won me two games in a row, but Is there something that would have worked at a higher efficiency? And the answer is yes most of the time.

They might. But they'd have to be so strong to make up for the simple fact that they don't have as much AA range that it'd be impossible to balance them properly for it.

Riot tried this long ago. They thought they had it perfect. It almost was, too. A melee perfectly balanced for being an ADC.

"What happened? What went wrong?", I hear you ask. Well, simply put, he went midlane. And thus was the never-ending circle jerk born, and thus did Yasuo become the most hated name upon the boards.

Melee ADCs can only work without being busted off the face of the planet everywhere else if you lock them into having to have a support. Which will make them suck in lower tier.

I mean, unless the majority of the adc get nerfed it is almost impossible to have a good melee ADC I mean why would you pick that champ with tristana/twitch/xayah doing 3 times more damage from the other side of the team fight.

Depends if they have the right tools, including items and keystones. In theory I feel like a few such as irelia, jax, fiora, and camille would have a chance. Katarina would be interesting with a support who would enable her to get kills. Maybe a good akali might be able to blow up an ADC before dying. A Yasuo who is duoing with the right support main could work.

Still, I think the biggest issue is you'd have to put in a lot of work and deal with a lot of risk for minimal rewards. A challenger smurf in bronze or silver would pull it off easily. But for the rest of us, probably not.

Yasuo +Braum , Blitzcrank +Nautilus , Illaoi +Heimerdinger , Gangplank +Zyra , Tryndamere +Zilean . adc/support that i think would work.

they need to have a relatively spammable gap closer (which xin does) but not many have that plus as someone who focuses damage theyre squishy and it is simply easier to be squishy if you dont have to stand next to your targets

Oxyrotten2/23/2018, 6:12:43 PM1 votes

Yeah it used to be a thing several seasons ago. It's called a kill lane (duo melee bot) usually played with divers or bruisers with cc/gap closers, like xin/wu etc.

Z3Sleeper2/23/2018, 8:54:33 PM1 votes

The only way it can work is either if they have ridiculous damage negation or insane mobility.

gabetheguy2/23/2018, 6:32:08 PM1 votes

your xin only did good because the opposing botlaner was trash.

Itirpon2/23/2018, 6:33:40 PM1 votes

It isn't a matter of "Can Xin play as an ADC?" but of asking "Why should I choose Xin instead of a popular ADC for my champion when I'm assigned Bottom?" "Is there an advantage if I and another player exchange which lane we play our champions in?" or "Will this pick improve or weaken my team's overall composition?"
