"But bro, it's just ARAM"
Too often I play ARAM and people do stuff that straight up loses you the match. This can range from:
- Building things that are Wack off-meta
- Ignoring an item that is specifically needed for your team to win (like if you're against a mundo, and the only person that can itemize against him just doesnt)
- A litany of other things etc etc
Now, when people ask you politely, consistently, and non threateningly, to do something for the team, and you decline time and time again, and we end up losing because of it, people are going to have a go at you. People will infact, tell you that you should have listened. If this happens, do not brush it off as "lol, y r u guys mad, it's just ARAM" This is 20 minutes + of my time that I have to spend with you. Everyone except you was being polite and doing their best to help the team. If you want to muck around and build off meta stuff, cool; you can do that. But when you build AD kassadin, you're not going to get a good reception. If you're the type of person that goes "Bruh don't worry, it's just ARAM" then get a bunch of your mates all together in a party and do that off meta stuff with them, so other people don't have to deal with the situation you're going to put them in. I do not like having a penalty in a competitive multiplayer game simply because I was matched with someone who doesn't care about the outcome of the game. If you are a person that does not, and will not ever care about the outcome of a match in an online competitive multiplayer game, then perhaps online video games are not for you. Do not confuse this for not letting the end of game result bother you: that is completely different.
This isn't call of duty where a game mode can be over in 7 minutes, and you can just move onto another lobby, or wait in the current lobby for the next match. These games go for a long time, and consume a lot of time to play. Do not be one of those people who says "But it's just ARAM". Because chances are, if you are a person that has to say that frequently, then you are a problem.
HOWEVER
If someone is having a bad game, do not attack them for it. Same thing goes for if people are new to champs. I'm never going to put someone down if they're stuck in a situation where they didn't want to be in. Thing is, if someone is new to a champ, they will often communicate with their team to resolve the confusion as to their performance.
If people who are new to champs can have the courtesy to be polite, try their best and have pretty general etiquette, then so can you.
EDIT: people seem to have missed the entire point of what im saying. Viable builds are entirely fine. But there is a very big difference between off-meta builds that are viable, and straight up non-viable off-meta builds.
This post is not talking about viable.
