Game chugging/FPS drops/Freezes

So apparently in the last week my game has started randomly frame dropping and freezing for no reason. Nothing wrong with my computer, no huge changes hit the game itself and yet the game just keeps chugging and stopping.

Apparently this partially ties into a bug OTHER people are experiencing where they CONSISTENTLY bugsplat during Loading Screen. Most of us get one or the other and I assume an incredibly unlucky few get slapped with both.

Riot fix your fucking game bro. Stop dropping spaghetti everywhere. Stop overloading the client/engine with absurd amounts of artery clogging cosmetic garbage if you can't also maintain and tweak the game/client to not die of heart disease in the process.

Small indie company.....

It's a graphical overlay issue and/or memory allocation of the video card. This is why your game stutters. Most games create a full screen window think of it like a box that covers the whole screen that's cleared and reioened each game. RIOTS client doesn't clear the memory from each game so it builds up until it bombs out.

Having multiple web windows also increases this.

It's just bad programming all round.

ive lost countless ranked games cuz of this man. its pretty bs. having to restart your pc because your screen freezes is like 3 mins gone and thats alot for me since i play early to mid gamers and i dont get to have a impact so my laner can just outscale me and i become more useless in the long run.

I am not a fan of the agressive wording here, but I am really sad about these bugs since i have been hit by both and they really ruin ur game experience.

Yeah, I came back to the game a week or so ago, and not only does it chugg the game, it chuggs my entire PC. I'd be in coms with my friends and at the same time the game starts tanking, I can't hear my friends and they can't hear me. Occasionaly, (other than the massive frame drops) the game will skip frames and freeze momentarily to the point of completely freezing and becoming unresponsive in task manager, forcing me to quit the game and reconnect.

The thing is, I initiated full repair twice; Used Hextech Tool to perform a clean Uninstall and Reinstalled; Re-installed my driver updates / made sure everything is up to date; Permanently stopped unecessairy start up and background programs.

Still frame tanked in custom...

I play on a fairly low end laptop, but I used to consistently get slightly above 60fps (Max 120, min 50 on extreme cases). Now it randomly tanks to 30-15 only to go back later to 70ish. Worst thing is, the amount of time the frames tank is random too, I went easily one entire minute playing between 30-15 fps on one occasion.

Same here my game keeps fps dropping and freezing in the middle of games literally this game has caused my entire pc to freeze in the middle of games and i've gotten 3 leavers due to that.

I've also: -Checked for updates and installed updates for my pc and drivers. -Defaulted optimization settings in the graphics properties for my pc to see if that was the problem. -Uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics driver. -Done several full repairs on the client.

And none of this helped so i don't know at this point because i was not experiencing these problems like 2 patches ago, I wish Riot would just slow down with constantly pushing out new skins and new champions and start doing some serious bugfixing and game/client optimizations because this obvious Quantity --> Quality is making the game unplayable for most.

Same issue here. I have an i7 processor with a 1070 and 32 gb of ram and an ssd so it shouldnt be spec related. Its probs something in the client but it happens to me regardless of the game mode.

its really starting to tilt me. I thought it was my PC so I fac reset it and its still doing it. It's gotten me killed multiple times.

Imagine me, going from 120fps to 5 in one snap. I've redone my config, settings, even hotkeys, and went far to factory reset, and still 5 fps drops.

I had long chat with support this days and they told me they have problems with Dual Core hardware types. Since they didn't upgrade minimum specs and like you all i have the requirments, the it's a problem about the graphics engine (idk how it's called but i hope you understood).

It doesn't matter how much powerful your PC can be, with Dual Core, you'll have problems no matter what..

Idk if what they told me is true or not, but sadly the only thing we can do now is waiting rioters, so they can fix this.

They always told us Lol would have been able to low engines too, but it seems exactly the opposite for...little changes about graphics.

Is not the clien, is the launcher. They killed League OG client to create Riot Launcher that will be connected to future released games.

Having the same problem since preseason. Unplayable now :/ Please fix this... I used to be able to run the game with maximum video settings and now the game makes my computer completely freeze for a about a whole second every 4-10 seconds.

All of this has been happening to me now the past few weeks. My champ will take two steps in lane then chug a little, but when I encounter an enemy I drop to about 8FPS then in group fights I either freeze completely or drop to 1-2FPS. Never had this issue in the past! I updated everything on my computer and even dropped all of the settings to the lowest and still nothing. It upsets me that I've spent so much money on this game plus I dropped $900 on a gaming computer last year. I also get this weird thing where I have this weird staticy looking bar that travels down my screen like it's having graphic issues.

This problem is so bad that I'll have to stop playing until they fix it. No one in game believes me and they get tilted when I lag and die but it's 100% not my fault!!!!! I JUST SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON THE LAST EVENT TO GET THE PRESTIGE MF SKIN AND I CANT EVEN USE IT!!! WTF RIOT!

Also my S/O runs league perfectly on his HP 2000 laptop.....and mine has a higher end NVIDIA Graphics card and a decent processor. It's def not computer specific.

I'm running league at 140 to 90 FPS on a 225$ computer. The thing is ancient.

A little about myself, I used to build custom Overclocked water cooled computers. I'm familiar with hardware, basic Windows software, and some Linux.

Screen - Dell E1777FP 17'' GPU - Nvidia gtx 1050 CPU - Amd Athlon(tm) X4 760K quad core Ram - 8Gb Kingston Motherboard MSI A55M-E33 (MS-7721)

It chugged really hard but I was able to optimize it.
League Client: Go to the top right and click on the gear icon. Enable "Low Spec Mode" and enable "Close Client Ingame". Low spec removes the extra graphics and animations from the background. It won't look as good, but it removes the client lag. Close Client Ingame shuts off the client when you're running the game. Getting out of the game will be slower so you might not be able to talk smack about your pentakill before the other gamers queue up for another game.

Make sure to do a virus scan to check if there is anything running in the background illegally.

I shut down background processes in Windows. There are alot of apps running in the background at all times. Here are some resources I used.
Make sure to go to Control Panel, System and Security, Power Options. Windows normally has it at Balanced. Click the down arrow new the bottom and select High Performance. You can play with the settings in advanced if you want. XD

The last one is more hands on. It enables the redundant cores on your CPU. Like hard drives the CPU has extra cores that it saves in case a core goes bad over time. Think of it like running your car on 3 cylinders instead of using all 6. Kindof a no duh.
It takes more wattage and generates a little more heat. (much less heat than overclocking) Make sure your Power Supply can take the extra draw. Make sure your cooler can handle the extra heat.
An indicator your power supply isn't strong enough is that after getting into a game the computer will chug or shut off. The draw was too much and bios didn't have enough power to run. You'll need to upgrade your PSU. Make a list of everything in your computer. CPU, Ram, Hard drive, motherboard, graphics card and add the wattage up. A good rule of thumb is to have 30% extra power as a buffer. I like Corsair or Thermaltake. Stay away from the no name brands. They can send power spikes through your computer and ruin it. (personal experience. I lost 800$)
An indicator that your CPU cooler isn't enough is that after 5-20 minutes the game starts to chug. Most chips have a switch that slows down the chip when it thinks it's getting too hot. "Thermal Throttling You'll want to get into a better cooler. Note: Getting a new cooler is easy. Look for copper, aluminum tends to reflect heat back into the chip. You'll need thermal paste. Stay away from the acrylic and ceramic based pastes because they reflect heat. Look for the metal base. I use Arctic Silver 5. It's 6$ on ebay. When applying the paste use just enough to cover the surface of the chip. Overall I've been running League, Discord, and Streaming with OBS Studio with no problems.

I hate these kinds of problems because I'm never 100% sure if its on Riot's side or my side. I am experiencing frequent freezing though. League will just stop responding every 1 in 3 games and will make it very hard to exit the program without restarting.

The same problem in LAN,LAS,EUNE and EUW,LAN has a lot of post by people complaining about the same problem and not a single rioter has given an answer yet,a support member from LAN posted that was the computers problem,the fucking post got deleted the next day ,they had not answered yet in a board atleast telling they are working on it ,words can help to calm people but they dont event manage to do that...[sg-janna]

Thought it wa sonly me, my FPS takes a major dip. Today alone it froze, went black (I could still move my cursor) then put me back in the game.

It felt like I opened google 600 times at once

I thought It only happened to me since my PC is not the best, but It happened more frequently than before. I've been getting a lot of AFK players lately, be It I don't care or report them since all of those games where normal Draft games and the actual reason for the AFK is unknown. But still It's frustrating that my game crashes more than It used to. Just look at my last game, the enemy had 2 AFKs and tell me If there is something wrong with the game, I didn't enjoy winning 3v5.

Really glad to see it's not just my computer that's having these issues. My friends and I are experiencing frames drops, momentary freezes, outside chat apps sound robotic, sometimes you can't load in, and the worse is when it crashes fully; forcing you to restart your comp and lose precious time. I reached out to riot and they told me " that some error reports from the lol.logs showed that you had a few blue screens". I have not had a blue screen in years! The people that are at Riot tech support literally seem to just have a script of phrases to throw our way if there are any issues on their end. Literally every time that I have an issue from when they screw something up with a patch I have to fix it myself by googling ways to fix it or reaching out to my Dell tech support team. Riot has rarely ever been a help when it comes to these types of things, and they need to take ownership of this. It's nice to have things look aesthetically beautiful, but if they aren't running right under the hood, nothing is!

2 second freeze happened when you made a ping or link an ability in chat for the first time in the match. Doesn't happen in practice mode btw. Don't know if they fixed it with 9.22

Riot's respone will be a new event with a new season pass and 2 new skin lines with 8 eight new skins for Star Guardian and Project Line all with seperate Prestige skins.
