Complete Overhaul of the Honor System

When was the last time you cared about getting honor? I, personally, never have. It's literally meaningless. To be fair, there is a small chance of you getting a banner, what is sort of cool, but is that good enough for people to want to use the system? It doesn't do anything, and to be honest no one cares about it.

Now, imagine a world where your total honor would show up in champion select. It was there for everyone to see, something to be proud of and (to be honest, perhaps this is the most important aspect) to not be forgotten completely. That way, you don't need a banner to show off that you've been honored (and who has banners nowadays anyway?)

Even better, imagine if honor gave you IP increases. Let's learn a little from Dawngate and what they did right; being a good player meant good rewards. Sure, you give us a skin a year, but what about a game per game basis? What if someone with a banner got a +15% IP increase? That's a reason to be nice ingame.

he does have a point but you will also run into the different ways a system can be abused. IP increase would be very beneficial and everyone would just honor everyone in an attempt to make sure they were honored as well. This would also result in a money loss from riot as people would much easier afford champs with IP and thus making their champ sales less effective

Sunny has a point. Honor needs to be more relevant in the game rather than just a stat in your profile. However it is very possible to abuse it, so it can't be excessively relevant either.

I've seen it somewhere else here on Boards, but I think having a "Honor Page" where we keep notes of people who honored you, would be amazing, letting us justify why we honored a person like we would when we report them. However, your idea to display our honor in champion select is also pretty cool. It would be nice to get recognition for using smiley faces and optimism until the bitter end, even after someone says gg easy.

My point is, the reward should feel more like recognition, rather than a way to get stuff more easily, but I am glad someone touches this issue :)

Like this idea, think it'll boost overall player behavior. Maybe a change like: you earn a 15% ip boost if you earn at least 2 honor points in one game. If you get another point next game, you get a -3 boost. So you get a 12% boost. However, if you get two again, you add 5, meaning a 20% ip boost. It goes on and on until you get a 35% boost. Or maybe even add a rp or ip award for getting a certain amount of points in a certain amount of time.
