How do premades fit into your overall game view RIOT?
Riot, you seem to be trying way to hard to balance Dynamic Queue around so many play styles and premade combos. It is starting to seem like you want to make Dynamic Queue function like a universally great queue. It is a great goal to have, but there may be just too many variables to work with to get it to that point. Sometimes Dynamic Queue just cant make everyone happy 100% of the time.
Currently it seems that you have started to contradict that idea of yours. You say League of Legends is supposed to be a team game, yet you gave high ranked players a solo queue to shorten queue times and fix other issues like balancing around premades. If premades are really that big of a game changer, why is it not handled the same way throughout the full spectrum or ranks? If premades cause so much issue for the high ranks, why are some players allowed to get to those ranks by only using them (more or less why some get boosted into those ranks)? Would that not be counter intuitive and more or less a recipe for their own self destruction because of their lack of knowledge of playing solo? It would seem that League is more both a team game and a game for individuals than just a team game overall. I am not against playing with friends. And I doubt even you guys have the server capacity for so many different types of great/helpful queue styles for everyone to be happy. But having two polar opposite styles (solos and premades) inhabit the same queue just seems like a bad idea.
Solo players are more serious about every match's overall outcome, win or loss. Some even go as far as to be very proud or quite unhappy with their own contribution to that final outcome, even going into tilt occasionally if they cant contribute. Premades are usually more laid back and have more enjoyment playing with friends than the outcome of the match. Normal queue somewhat works with this, but ranked does not. Simply because it is ranked. Having a rank tied to your name gives value to your efforts which many players (mainly solo players, but many premades share this too) have a desire to improve and increase it. But when those who want to get better and those who want to just play without care are placed on the same team, internal issues arise.
I get that it is impossible to 100% restrict Ranked Queue to only those who want to improve their rankings and game play skills. But shouldn't that be the purpose of a ranked queue in the first place? I find that many times playing normal queue is hopelessly one sided to the point of it is just better to risk a demotion in Ranked Queue than try and win a game in Normal Queue because you will ultimately get a fairer game.
Premades are balance breakers. Near impossible to balance around and always the unknown factor in a team's potential. They have shown to be able to swing an entire game's power balance to one side or the other regardless of actual team comps. Outside (third party) programs which they use to communicate give massive advantages in communication over those who lack it. While you cannot prevent their use, you don't seem to help those who lack them. Chat is interpretive. How am I to get sarcasm, humor, or any emotion other than anger/frustration behind the words typed? It also is hard to fight and type simultaneously and pings go unnoticed in the heat of battle from "tunnel vision".
If this really is a team game, why are there many team focused aspects not worked with/around in the game's balance in order to try to make each game as fair for both sides as possible? What are your plans for the future regarding premades? I like playing with my friends and all, but to me, playing in such uneven and unfair matches just makes the game less and less fun overall.
