Proposition: aura meaningfulness

Watching one of Jeremy Gaming Curios's videos, it was mentioned that auras were going to be removed because they were simply too effective yet at the same time, lacked any real sense of powerfulness. Certainly, it is the case. No one in a teamfight will ever pay attention if a champion is emitting a gold tinted colour signaling he's got an aura. But there should be other options to consider before deleting them from the game. After all, it is preseason.

As I see it, there are two problems with auras:

  1. They are an important source of bonus stats that can be accessed all the time (except if you're out of range)
  2. They don't make players feel like they're meaningful

To this, here's my suggestion: Instead of having auras emitting from a champion, let it have it's source from a banner, much like a ward. This means transforming auras items into actives which at the same time, promotes proactive playstyles. Visually, these banners would have a clearly delimited radius of effect (similar to the animation of a Ryze ult. Basically, something that clearly shows which zone is affected by the aura. They would have a health bar hence would be vulnerable to attacks and leave a decent amount of room for counter plays and also have a duration of effect and expire after a short period of time. This way, in a teamfight, players can actually feel the effects of the item and make their use a much more strategic one. This would also solve the problem of it being too powerful because the aura wouldn't be constantly emitted.

In hope that this will be read by a Rioter and discussed, a veteran noob
