The Death of Tahm kench support

Hey, I was really sad to see the tahm kench changes go to live, they ruined his support role and forces him into top lane (Which I am sure top laners will hate, as he bullies melees so hard). He was my fav sup as he makes me feel I have control over the game to help my team, other tank supports are in a bad state too, since sup items make them extra squishy so it is really sad to see this change go to live... Before anyone says I am lvl 15 with no TK games, this is not my main acc, I was lazy to switch accounts. I am silver 3 sup main.

I have over 650,000 mastery points on Tahm Kench and I am right there with you. It feels like Riot's balance team doesn't mind dumpstering a champion like Tahm because he doesn't have a large enough player base for them to care. This patch is truly disheartening for Tahm mains... :(

They've proved so many times they don't give a damn about their own community. I just hope they're gonna get what such a poor behaviour deserves, and apparently it's already happening.

TahmKench Ryze Kalista Azir will all never actually be balanced because of the LCS.

Riot wants to see more diversity in team comps for LCS play, but I say, who fucking cares, honestly? I play Nami and Brand more these days but I don't give a shit if I never see them in the LCS. I don't need some kind of validation for my champ choices because I want to see a pro play them, hell, I don't even want to see them playing them because that means more people will pick them up, make them popular and possibly lead to nerfs.

My thing is that they took away his one reliable skill. If they wanted to nerf support kench all they had to do was lower the duration that allies are in his belly for. That's all

Are you talking about the cooldown increase? Because if so I agree. I mained shield supports and tahm can effect a shield (with some other effects) against most damage using consume. Lowering the duration to 4 seconds brought it in line with most shields. The huge cooldown increase is just ridiculous. He wont even be building a ton of cooldown reduction as a tank either and even if he did hed stil have it at over 8 seconds which is crazy. Some people may point out that it's effectively an infinite damage shield and janna who has the largest shield has a similar cooldown but those people forget that consume doesnt block instances of damage over time already effecting the target and also requires tahm to be basically in melee range vs every other shield user having moderate to long ranges on their shields. Also as someone else already mentioned he really doesnt bring much to teamfights due to his single target focus and utility ult that has little to no use during the actual teamfight.

TLDR: cooldown increase is egregious and completely uncalled for.

I am all in for TK nerfs as that fish is just unfun to play against, both him in top and him in support. But this change is pushing him into toplane where I want him more gone than in bot.

I can't see how this would kill his support role. Sure it's not a great change but it doesn't suddenly make him unviable. 6 seconds to 4 for duration? Most of the time the danger is gone. The cooldown changes will hurt, but how often do you really need to devour a teammate? Plus, his cooldowns are lower in terms of harass, and supports have an easier time with frequent harass than do solo laners that need to cs.

The change didn't quite kill tahm kench support, you are actually situationally stronger at peeling late game provided that you max out cdr, now youll be able to spam q to stun lock bruisers/juggers that are after your teammates.

(if you really need more attack speed to get them at 3 stacks faster, build a item 3504 and take font of life, also gives you movement speed which is nice.)

This is coming from a 1 million mastery tahm kench support main.

Also you kind of are more reliant on having another champion with you since the slow on his Q is a lot weaker (he cant catch someone on his own nearly as well)
