Can we get rid of autofill already. Who wants to play a game where you dont even get your role.
Its much better waiting longer and having everyone on your team play what they know and want.

I'm so tired of junglers who do absolutely nothing and end up having my team dumpstered by an actual jungle player.

- for the first 5 seasons there was no role selection, so basically everyone except first pick was autofilled.
- It's not about waiting longer, it's about waiting forever.
What happens when you lack a role and there is not autofill :
1000 players starts to queue for a game, there are only 100 supports. 500 of the players find a match thanks to the 100 support. 500 players are still waiting.
1000 new players starts to queue they bring 100 new supports
you now have a total of 1500 players queuing (the 500 who were waiting + the 1000 new). the 500 who were waiting are priorized and get matched with the 100 new supports. 1000 players are still waiting
1000 new players starts ... ...
1500 waiting ... But now the 1500 waiting will have to wait until 3000 new players bring 300 new support to get matched. These 3000 new players will be waiting for 6000 new players to connect to bring 600 supports ....
Repeat until 10 000 players are waiting with 1h+ queue time.
Picking role before the game was a new feature, before that you had to respect pick order, everytime. So the system is better than before, and it NEEDS autofill, else it's not just the queue time will be longer, it's the queue time will GROW so much you wont even be able to play.
Learn to play support with 1 champion, always quee as your main role + support and that's it. You'll still get your main role ~70% of the time.

I dislike autofill too. The unfair MMR from longer queue times could arguably be better than the disadvantage of someone playing a role that is not his/her main, especially in higher elo (although I am in low elo myself). Not to mention the number of queue dodges that autofill makes..
Unfortunately, I doubt it will be removed because frankly, Riot has done a suboptimal job when it comes down to listening to the player base. I understand a lot of the community's discussion is filled with salt, but still...
IMO the best thing we can hope for is riot giving extra rewards for autofilling (ex. more hextech keys, chests, IP boosts, etc.)

Longer queue times means the algorithm will expand its MMR range which lead to even WORSE games. Better to have people who don't know what the fuck they're doing but on equal skill levels than getting bronze/not level 30 teammates while there is a Masters Eve on the enemy team. Not to mention lower ranked players wouldn't know what to do even in their preferred roles anyway, at least not on your level and you'd see them a lot more.
youre not actually waiting longer without auto fill, bcause people keep dodging champ slects theyre auto filled into. at least at most ratings.
or theyre dodging teams with auto filled people in carry roles, like jungle.
it just ends up increasing que times more, than waiting a couple extra minutes upfront. they probably should keep auto fill for the higher ratings, like around d1 to challenger though.
