One way to win/lose lane

Back at the right time and kill the enemy laner who is too dumb to back before you get back. Works every time.

Or to lose...

Harass the enemy laner until they get low enough they need to back, then stay and last hit minions until the enemy laner gets back(they have a huge item advantage over you since you didn't back) and pushes you and minions under your tower and harasses you until their jungle comes to dive you. In other words, be very greedy.
