How is this even remotely fair?
TLDR A novice game designer can tell you that competitive games should not have luck barrier that inhibits you from playing at an actual skill level, whatever it may be. Do not confuse this luck or lack of with your ability to play.
** BACKSTORY** Put in silver 3 down from gold 3, no big deal. Could have had it a lot worse. Been mid gold practically since I started playing league, with the exception of last season, where I didn't play at all. Really Comfortable playing golds & feel like that is where my skill level is. (Not good but getting there D:)
I think to myself, "No worries, I'll just climb up like every other season!"
Maintaining a win rate of at least .65 over 30+ games, the only thing holding me back were my series. still stuck at my silver 3 series.
The amount of luck that goes into this seemingly skill based system is actually baffling.
compared to every other team game I can think of, no game has such a luck based barrier to represent elo.
Trolls/afk's/feeders/9 year olds have a direct impact on the outcome of your series, and even more so your best of 5.
Luck barriers like that are completely polar to what league should represent. Taking an entry level university design course can tell you that. Games should have some aspect of luck, but your entire standing in a game can't revolve around your luck in dealing with toxic players.
