Split Rune Pages

It is tedious and non-interesting having to create similar rune pages for say an AP mage with different defensive stats based on matchups. These clog up the amount of variations of rune pages I can run for other classes of champions.

At the same time defensive resistance runes are desirable for the game to provide protection to champions in more difficult matchups. Later the resistance runes can be outscaled by the % pen items...

One solution is to make defense runes generally universal only. Hp only/shield procs only/% damage reduction. The problem with this is these runes can easily be worthless or overpowered and don't promote as much thought.

So instead of doing anything drastic... How about rune pages are split into 2 selectable parts:

  • Marks & Quints
  • Seals & Glyphs

Then you can pair any combination you have setup. It's not a true grouping of the offensive and defensive runes [that are competitive] but for the most part that would allow you to select marks and quints based on who you are (a mage, a super tank, a ranged dps, ect.) and seals & glyphs based on the enemy team (armor or hp for my lane... cdr or magic resist)

If this was done I would have more room for super tank rune pages and rune pages with bonus movement speed quints without sacrificing my matchup based rune pages.

Whatever evolution the rune system is gonna go through in the distant future primary stat bonuses probably should be seperated from situational bonuses in this way.
