Dynamic queue's flaws in the perspective of a plat/diamond player
Disclaimer: I don't mean to be condescending by incorporating elo into this but I do think that the perception of dynamic queue varies quite heavily based on elo judging by the specific complaints that I see around GD/G&B nowadays.
Obviously, solo queue was never perfect but most of us here tend to agree that it was a much healthier approach to creating a competitive ladder than dynamic queue. The majority of the arguments against dynamic queue that I see here, however, tend to target how queued players have an inherent and unfair communication advantage against solo players. Though this is definitely true, communication in the elo I'm in has remained relatively consistent before and after the implementation of dynamic queue. Again, I don't mean to sound condescending, but platinum+ players tend to have a general idea of what objectives to do and how to coordinate. Queued groups rarely ever have a HUGE advantage in my ranked games in terms of coordination because it isn't that much more sophisticated than what 5 solo players can accomplish.
The main issue of dynamic queue that I personally face is matchmaking. Before dynamic queue, all 10 players in the game were relatively similar skill level. Obviously, there were feeders, trolls, tilters, etc. but the majority of the people (~7/10) were within the same ballpark of skill. This allowed for a very competitive environment since games were back and forth and often very close. On the other hand, this season, ranked no longer has a competitive atmosphere at all. This is because of the fact that there are so many people who were LEGALLY boosted to tiers that they normally could not achieve with their current skill level. This is a huge problem in platinum because almost every lane without exception is a one-sided stomp because there is a mismatch in skill. This leads to the extremely snobally nature of this season. All too often in the loading screen, I see 2 diamond borders (1 from me) a platinum border and two stray silver borders (keep in mind this is plat ~3 mmr). Yes, there are maybe a couple of silver bordered players I have played with that legitimately climbed to platinum by themselves but I would say the vast majority of them have performed underwhelmingly and it usually just comes down to who has the most legitimate platinum players on their team. This is not a fun experience whatsoever because it essentially makes every game feel as though 2 platinum players are smurfing in silver and are competing against another pair of smurfs. It honestly comes down to who can abuse their lane opponent more and snowball the game first.
