It's due to item cost increases. Riven relied on hitting her power spikes reliably. She can no longer do that. Tiamat nerf also hit her hard. No last whisper either which doesn't help her against squishies. Ghostblade got rekt. Cleaver got rekt. There's literally not a single Riven item that was not nerfed.
I'm starting to think you're right... I've been raping Riven's pretty hard, more than pre-patch.
I wonder if Riven was finally legitimately balanced by the changes or if it's just a run of luck.
Their items got so shrekt by riot. Tiamat, last whisper, yoomus are all dead really. I see a lot of people say this is no true, but they don't show any sort of solid proof to counter against this argument. lol

I don't know about Nocturne, but Talon, Knife Cat, and Shaco are all AD Assassin champions that USED to be countered by upgrading to pink trinkets. They have kits that scale to high damage late game, and most players by late game don't have an item slot left to buy pink wards. Because Pink Trinkets no longer exist, nobody past Lv15 can do anything to secure true sight on these invisible assassins. Couple that fact with the newly available strong variety of AD itemization means that they have been buffed two times over by item changes of this preseason.
Reductions in the Last Whisper and BotRK stats have also affected straight damage dealers like Zed and Riven much more than stealth assassins in comparison.
well the nerfs just shrekt zed and so did the nerfs of lw and bork. However u should see his winrate rise cause of the incoming buffs
This is actually the first time I have ever seen Talon's winrate be lower than 50% since his release. It may be just under 50% but that's pretty noticable considering he has been above 50% for years. Then finally. They nerfed all the things! I'm glad riot finally gave him that consistency bugfix! It's the 2nd legitimate buff he has ever gotten.
