Is anyone else really tired of seeing teams with two and three portals? This item seemingly came out of nowhere, and now almost every game you see supp/jg/top buy it. It just promotes a mindless strategy of split pushing without having to do any of the work. I think a simple fix would be to limit it to 1 on the map at a time. Thoughts?

blame the minion chnages this season, not the item. it only became so strong because minions are now split pushing on their own. zz amplifies this effect to constant minion pressure.

it wasnt nearly as strong in season 5.

i been using it mundo and a couple others since pimpin been pimpin. That shit has never sucked. Ever. It pays for itself 40-60%. It acts as a turret and gives u speed so u can throw it down in a pinch, make a stretch of space in top or bot that makes u uncatchable. You can even throw it on objectives for a target distration. or throw in a bush that u know enemys coming and they wack it instead of warding baron/drag

If I know game is about to be lost 3 inhibs down ill sell something buy a relic shield to clear out 3 lanes of supers coming in. If it works Bam relic shield cost return. If im mundo i just by relic shield anyways with it . end game 2000 extra gold for last item

It didn't just come out of nowhere, it was used pretty heavily in the LCS. I think they used it mainly to counter tanky top laners, as tanks actually have problems killing the portal itself. (though I wouldn't think Tanks and Bruisers were that popular in YoloQ.)

According to the shoutcasters, Portal isn't that popular in Korea, because it didn't offer teamfight abilities. So if ZZ'rots is dominating, that would suggest that teamfighting isn't favored by the meta. (maybe it's too hard or too risky to initiate fights.)

That could lead to toxicity, as it would create race conditions between players. You would end up with one player having portal, and everyone else having a bunch of component items that they can't do anything with.

Unless you mean, one gate on the map at a time. But that would still lead to problems. Since everyone is going to want to make use of the benefits the gate provides them as a player.

In general, if an utility item being picked up on multiple champs. It's a pretty good sign that the item itself is OP. (not just because it's being spammed.)

If they end up nerfing the gate itself, I would suggest doing what the did with Azir's turret, and make it's health decrease over time. (instead of using a hard Despawn counter) It would mean that any damage (how ever little) to the gate would weaken it in a meaningful way.

Is it back or are you just speaking generally or something? Last I checked, that was game-breakingly bugged and disabled.

Either way: Don't worry about it. It's just a fad. People will get tired of it or remember that it sucks and it will go back to being the same state that it was with Ohmwrecker and the rest and stay there until some stupid video by Brofresco gets popular or something.

I've been building item 3512 and item 3060 on most supports that I play since around when zz came out. I've always been a huge fan of the board pressure, and the fact that it breaks enemies off of teamfights so effectively.
