Hey east coast, whats your average ping?
I am also an east coaster, and my average ping is about 110.
Do you guys feel this puts us at a significant disadvantage vs west coasters?
Only at high levels of play?

115-120. It does put you at a disadvantage. While you cannot "test" it in league, its easily tested by playing pretty much any other online game that has server options. Just go play a game on a west coast, 120 ping server, then go play the same game on a 30 ping east coast server, and you get a pretty clear picture on how much it actually effects your game.
I honestly refuse to play any other game besides league, on a server with over 50 ping. I just leave any server I get on that has more than that. I just don't have that option in league. I can actually feel it in games, too. Just the other day, I did a quick match in TF2, and was playing, and everything felt off. Sure enough, I hit Tab, had 125 ping. I left that server and went to an east coast one.
I guess people expect league players to do the "ignorance is bliss" routine because they should be used to 120 ping. Still doesn't make it right, nor does it magically remove the issues that higher ping cause, like slower reaction times and responses to everything.
Bottom line is, ping matters. And, it really shouldn't be so drastic. There is no excuse to not put the servers in a centralized location that evens out the ping for everyone, instead of having 1 side of the nation with sub 30 ping, and the other side with 100+. Its just rediculous in this day and age, for this to be an issue. A centralized location would help east coasters tremendously, and not affect most West coasters that much. They would still probably fall in the 50-70 range, while east coasters would fall down into that range, too. And, it would be even across the board.
88 never changes ever and no it has nearly no effect what so ever untill youre diamond1 95lp + maybe higher, anyone who bitches about east coast ping also bitch about elo hell
90~120. Main issue I have is with abilities not going off, and sometimes noticeable delays if ping starts going up.
Typically 100. I've never really played on lower ping, so I'm pretty accustomed to it at this point.
I wouldn't say it gives me a disadvantage, since I don't really have any issues as long as my ping stays steady. Any mistakes I make I can easily attribute to my decision-making rather than latency.
I average like 85.
I'd say it does put east coasters at a disadvantage, although not a massive disadvantage, it makes it very difficult to do combo's and dodge skillshots that would be possible with lower ping. Something like Jayce's Q + E combo is much harder with higher ping.
I average 80 where I live in NJ. A half hour away at my parent's house, I averaged 90-100. 20 minutes from here at college, I was getting 75.
It does put me at a disadvantage... sometimes. It becomes obvious when I watch skill shots hit on my screen, but the enemy gets away without damage. If this happens multiple times against the same champion, 4/5 times they have better ping. 1/5 times I just suck.
I see my ping go from ~90-110. I guess the average is 100.
A good question I guess would be how many pro players are west coast vs how many pro players are east coast?
The main issue for us is that we have to be faster than our west coast opponents by a good amount in order to simply break even with their reaction times.
Whenever there is a quick draw between two players the player with the higher ping is at a significant disadvantage where every millisecond counts.
If both players can get there fatal burst off in 2 seconds than the one with less ping should win unless significantly outmatched.
I average a clear 99 in Southeast USA.
After playing on LAN, I can say that it feels like a world of difference.
120 ping on na with my main, and 60 on lan. that moment when u want to start maining the lan server because of how fair it is rather than na..
90-100, get a lot of spikes though.
92
80-110. MAYBE 75 on a lucky day.
when i 1st started playing it was around 80 but now it about 100- 115 also when i play a game on the pbe i get a around 80 - 90
Does Riot even have any intentions of making centralized or east coast servers?
On my old laptop it was about 120. Old Desktop it was 100. ATM on my current computer its at 72 in games. It can go as high as 90 on bad days. My ping is consistent and has only lowered in the past year.
Apparently the Latin American servers are located in Florida.
Who wants to brush up on their spanish skills?
I live in Maryland I usually get between 85-120 ping. I do believe it is a bit of a disadvantage over people on the west coast. Some combos need low ping to be pulled off like Zed and renekton. Also with 120 ping the game doesn't always run smoothly and if you spike with 100 ping it will be much less manageable then if you spike playing with 20 ping.
90-ish on average.
80-100, spikes occasionally
Virginia and I get 92.
I'm not even east cost. Michigan gets about 80 and it often spikes up to the low 100s.
Pennsylvania here, and I average 110 - 120. Sometimes the moon will eclipse the sun, the planets will align, and my ping will actually go down to double digits in the 90's. That's when I break out the top shelf liquor because I know it's not going to get much better.
With a consistent ping like that there's just some things I'll never be able to reliably do. Alistar's WQ combo is the one that springs to mind the quickest. You need such fine timing on that, and 120 ping isn't going to easily let you accomplish what you want to do.
[West] Philadelphia PA, here.. i average about 89-90 nowadays
Average ping around 100-110 in south Florida. I don't feel that it's a significant disadvantage. I played on the European servers while in Europe and the ping was low (~40-50) and it felt a lot smoother, but did not affect my gameplay at all. I think only high elo players would truly notice it or feel like they are at a disadvantage.
Old ass article but I'm going to comment anyways... I'm avg at 115 at the lowest and I'm in FL.
I HAVE however noticed that when I play on the LAN server (Latin America North), I get an infinitely better ping. It's because of the server location though... it's in Miami.. lol
Northern Florida, my ping is steady 96, never really varies. Atleast it's stable.
So I average a ping of about 37 on the east coast, not particularly sure why it's not worse, but I'm not complaining
NYC 83~89, spikes up to 270 1/3rd of the time while in game.
it destroys my last hitting and when its really bad i get dragged back by blitzcrank hooks i clearly dodged.
39
between 90 and 100 usually, but can and does spike upwards of 300-400 at times, which is pretty gamebreaking. For instance, the other day I was playing as cho, got my enemy laner to kill range with my ult, flash R-ed them and on my screen nom-ed them right then and there. In actuality, my ping spiked to over 400 (worst I've seen it outside a full DC, which has only happened twice), they flashed when I flashed, and by the time I re-synced to the match, I had chased them 2 screens away and died under their tower having used no abilities or attacks.
