An Idea for balancing Ranked Matchmaking
As you know, some champions are better than other champions. And to some people, this makes for an unfair game where one team roflstomps another one with good champions. Right now, Rito Gums only balances games around winrate and games played. But a first time Katarina will usually beat an OTP Teemo. So what can be done about this discrepancy? Well, for one, Rito can upgrade their match making system. But that still won't solve some problems, like one champion being inherently better than another. Even if two players have the exact same winrate, the person who is playing the better champion will usually win. So here is a possible
. Each champion is assigned a tier (That's why I linked a website to a random game). An inherently better champion is assigned a higher tier than a worse one. If champion X is a better champion, he is assigned a higher tier than champion Y. It would require a slight revamp of the current champ select, but what one would do is select their champion and role before jumping in a game. Keep in mind this is only for ranked so queue times would remain about the same. Then matchmaking cobbles together a game based on the player stats, role selected, and the champion tier. It would be quite loose, probably around +/-2 tiers. That way the games are slightly faster to get into. If your champion is banned, you just select a champion with the same tier value.
