A common problem with Blind pick

So when i start up a blind pick game, I'll call a position (ex. Top) Ill then select a champion but not lock in. The timer will go down and about 10-15 seconds before it locks the champions in someone in the room who has said nothing or even hovered over a champion says "I got top". Before i can even react or do anything it locks in and ill get yelled at for something that wasn't even my fault. This happens at least once a day and ill get called an auto locker or a troll just because someone decided to answer a text or something instead of speaking up.
