Visual Update idea for Summoner's Rift

I've been a player since the end of season 1 coming into season 2 and is it just me or does playing on that same Summoner's Rift map seem visually boring at this point? There's been a lot of focus on champion output, artwork updates, kit reworks, etc. but nothing in the way of a new playable map. Now, there is the age old saying of "don't fix what's not broken" and I'm not asking for a completely new map with different play-ability options (such as the crystal scar) - No. I'm asking for the same Summoner's Rift map, the 3 lane map we all know and love but with a different theme. You have such a rich lore with all these places such as Zaun, Ionia, Demacia, Noxus, Freljord, Shadow Isles, etc. but only one field of justice. Why not provide us with different eye candy? This does not require a complete gameplay overhaul, this would be an aesthetic choice like you find in many fighting games (where the gameplay doesn't change just the amount of eye candy). If an example is needed think of the aesthetic changes during the Harrowing or Snowdown. I'm not sure how this will fit in the lore established but I feel this would add more replay-ability on top of the already high bar established along with providing long time fans with something different to gush over.

I just want our champions to cause havoc in a city! Like Demacia!

You could make it a personalized thing. Have the structure of the rift stay the same but have rift skins available for a certain amount of RP. It'd only be for the person who bought it and wouldn't change things like the minimap or terrain at all, just the aesthetic look of the rift. This way everyone can have the rift the way they want it but it'll still be the same in the eyes of the game engine and the way champions interact on it. :]

All feedback is more than welcome!

Even if they did, it would be a temporary thing, or the maps would have to be on rotation. Hosting a queue for each map skin would be extremely hard to do

Are you talking about map skins, or an actual overhaul that requires a different queue? Because map skins would be way easier; there's already applications that can slap older maps on, like the old Harrowing map or Winter SR.

How about whenever you ward Teemo laughs for the enemy team. Globally.
