Blue Essence a problem?

I've been playing for a while now since blue essence was introduced. I find that it's so much harder to gain blue essence since it requires you to level up. Riot claims that its faster to unlock champions now but I think it's the complete opposite. I just wish that you can still earn blue essence after every game not just thru leveling up and disenchanting chards.
