Trying to Climb All Advice Welcome

Hello everyone! :) I'm in silver 5 struggling right now to climb last season I peaked at about Silver 1 promos to gold. Anyway, I'm trying to find outlets to improve my game, I have been working to improve my decision making but I really am looking for any series of videos I can watch, streamers or articles that teach the game. I acknowledge that I'm not amazing at the game, but I know I'm better at the game than the players around me. I find myself not losing games based off of my own deaths (I usually don't die solo but end up dying in fights because there's a massively fed tank or carry and my team doesn't have the items or levels to keep up). What I mean is if I do win a game its because my entire team does well. I guess what I'm attempting to get at is how do I carry my teammates if they feed and how do I prevent them from feeding in the first place? For those that think I'm joking, I got queued with someone that just reached 30 and went 0/18/3 and I had an int feeder who went 0/12/1 after some of my team flamed her. Again, I'm looking to really improve my overall knowledge of the game. Anyway, thanks for any and all feedback!

The biggest problem I see with most people in Bronze and Silver is basically not willing to accept what is happening. They always try to play and build like they're fed, they want to be fed, so they act like they're fed in the hopes that it might magically happen. They don't want to lose their tower, so they defend it and die and lose the tower anyway because sometimes they were able to defend it. Instead of making a judgement in each game and in each moment, they stubbornly try to play as if things were different.

This pattern extends itself to things like bad build paths, bad calls, bad trades in lane, bad allocation of jungle resources, and most of the symptoms of bad play you see in low ELO.

The advice I have for most low ELO people is simply

The game isn't always about you and what you want. You have to adapt yourself to what is happening, not try to get the game to adapt to you. You have to have respect.

get really good at one champ this way you limit mechanical errors. try not to fight if you have pushing waves. after 20 min always look for chances to take baron. Roam if you are stomping lane killing another laner is usualy better than killing your for the 5th time. If ahead really push to get towers

For all this advice you're getting, if you're playing solo, you have use this advice really really good. And learn to freeze lanes. I'm just struggling against premades at the moment.

Your rank is a reflection of two factors X= how much you play, and Y=how well you do. X*Y=your rank. If any of those numbers are shit you will never climb. You are never going to get anywhere playing 1 game a day (unless your goal is like gold 5). If you suck every game you won't go anywhere either.

I suppose you could always become a woman and entice 4 young boys to carry you to diamond 5.

  1. you must first realize you are terribad. like, truly terrible and among the lowest of the low. only when you accept that you have hit rock bottom can you climb.

  2. accept reality. the state of the game is what it is; your reaction to it will decide whether you win by a hair or lose by a stomp. do NOT fantasize that you are fed under any circumstances and do NOT act as if you are a 6 slotted Vayne.

  3. recognize some simple mathematical facts of your games. Not the game overall, but YOUR games. Measure the average gold income of your position in your elo and what you have. Measure the average game length. Plan your games accordingly.

  4. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER THINK "I DO WELL EVERY GAME MY TEAM FEEDS" unless you objectively go back and PROVE IT. Measure your average KDA over the past 20 ranked games, op.gg does this for you. Unless it is over 3.0 with a kill participation over 50%, you are NOT fed every game, you are NOT doing well every game and your team is NOT holding you back.

  5. Learn to not be heavy. The game isn't about you. You will do bad sometimes; your reaction to when you do bad will determine if you are the ballast that drags your team down or the lifesaver that keeps your team above water.

Worry about yourself, first and foremost.

I think that is the most important thing to remember when you're climbing low ELO as a solo player. It took me a while to understand that. This season I am a support main, and I do think it is important to trust yourself and your choices.

If you see a teammate who has over extended without vision, ignored pings, and is now being chased, do not go help them. You will just die with them and make the situation worse. It took me sooooo long to understand that. You can win the game if one teammate fed, so don't make the uphill battle steeper than it has to be.

Another tip I would give you is pay attention to the meta, and the meta in your specific League. So in Silver, ask yourself who is strongest. For Silver I always ban Volibear, Amumu, Blitzcrank, Ekko, Brand, or Annie. Lucian is currently a good one to consider also. Don't ban them if you see your teammate is about to pick one of those champions though because that's rude.

A champion that is strong in Platinum or Diamond may not preform as well in Silver for a variety of reasons, maybe they have a higher skill floor or maybe they are only strong in team fights. Understanding the differences and the league you are currently in will help so much.

People really hate the meta, but you need to follow it to better your chances at climbing up. I honestly believe that most people stuck in Silver are people who don't pay attention patch notes and meta shifts. That doesn't mean abuse a FoTM champion, but that also doesn't mean you should pick something that is lackluster in this patch. Some champions are just easier to play and get ahead with because the nature of low ELO in connection with the simplicity or power of their kit/builds.

The last thing I would say is always look at your team composition in champion select, and learn to play a tank or two very well. Many people in Silver do not like to play tanks at the moment, and I don't know why. I've seen so many teams lately that are way too squishy and AP heavy. It always ends terribly because even though team fights are not as coordinated and frequent as in higher ELO, they are just as crucial.

We're probably in the same place. I was Gold 5 last year, and this season I decided to switch to a support main. I dipped into Silver 5 for one game, and now I'm back up at Silver 2.
