PSA: Surrendering gives you less IP, TPing to a turret reduces the cooldown!

It's remarkable how many people don't know this.

When the surrender fails because the enemy team is attacking your nexus, I voted no because I want more ip. I own every champion, but I still have a few runepages to go and like 100 runes. Sure, you can get the neat double nexus explosion, but I have seen it happen enough now that I would rather get more ip for the inevitable loss.

And guess what? When you teleport to a turret, it reduces the cooldown on TP. Stop teleporting to a minion next to your turret, top laners.

Source of surrendering will grant less IP or experiment?

As far as I know, IP gain is calculated based on the length and type of the game played. Lose always gives less IP, wins give more. Looks like starting a new game is still more IP efficient than continuing a straight losing battle. (Don't get me wrong, I don't surrender if I feel like we have a shot at winning. I will surrender if we don't have a chance such as no grouping occurs, next to no wards, epicly failed last two or so team fights, no focus, or if my team is being toxic.)

Already knew about the turret, but nice to let people know.

Also a side tidbit: Spellvamp is NOT exclusive to magic damage. Neither is Rylai's or Liandry's on-ability procs. It also applies to abilities that deal physical or true damage (so long as they trigger effects as an ability.) Still not a good idea to build them on non-AP champions though, but it's a thing.

Same as what Marthian said, dragging a game out to lose anyways grants you approximately 1.4 IP for each minute you extended the match.

Starting a new match is a minimum IP reward of 16 + 20*1.4 IP. And that's assuming the new match is a loss. So if you extend a match 11-12 minutes by not surrendering, you break even with starting a new match. Any more is a waste of time, as you could've earned a higher IP profit from your next game, win or loss.

To add to the PSA, if you Ping an enemy LeBlanc or Shaco, the Ping will stick to the real one, letting you ignore the clone.

Surrendering doesnt give you less IP, technically. It only gives less cause theres less game-time and that's what ip is based off of. Since you gave the double explosion example, it wouldn't even give you less ip as that 1 second isnt going to reduce any ip at all... I don't know where you're getting your info from tho.

I laugh so hard when i see them tp to a minion like that.

Sometimes it's actually worth it to TP to the minion, though...

For example, if your lane is about to shove really had, but they still have ~6 minions left, and the wave is a significant distance from your tower, those enemy minions would often be dead by the time you could walk from tower to where they're fighting. In this case you gain a significant amount of exp and gold for TPing to the minion. As long as dragon was taken recently, this can be worth it, as your teleport will still be off cooldown in time for the next dragon fight either way.

I've actually noticed that when the enemy team surrenders in a normal game the ip gains are identical to an ARAM game of equal length. ARAM gives less ip per minute than the rift
