asking for advice with toxic players

Just had a game where I accidentally banned the character my Allie was gonna play. So out of spite he banned the champ I had highlighted. Then proceeded to flame and troll me all game then reported me at the end of the game for being toxic. I did not say anything during the game other than informing him if he kept flaming me I would mute him and farm up. I find myself at a loss on how to deal with that kind of mentality. Like do you mute them from the get go? Do you appease them and try to calm then down? Its just hard to know what to do.

I applaud you for not flaming back. That's the first step to dealing with toxic players. If you feel like flaming back at any point in a game, MUTE EM. Its not worth getting your account punished because you fought some nerd over a video game. After that, report them. We have the report system so that the folks upstairs, aka Riot, can handle the ruffians. You wouldnt curse out a random kid because he pissed you off, you'd naturally tell the superiors of that annoying kid so that they handle it, and you walk away without getting in trouble. Keep cool out there bro!

Personally I would ignore them and intake the information they say towards me and learn from it. For example, "You're so bad you don't even know how to gank properly. Why do you even jg if you just afk farm?!?!?!"

  1. The (ally) laner has to do their job and I do my job as a jungler.
  2. Think before you say because some junglers play passively for (some decent) reasons/ Or they're just not skill wise. I would just also mute them (if necessary) or if you really want to get on there nerves kill them with kindness :)))

If someone starts being unhelpful and it is distracting to you/ throwing you off you should mute them right away. Most of the important communications should be made with pings anyways, so it's not like you're going to miss crucial information that could win you the game. The only exception to this rule is if the person in question has gone into ff @15/20 mode even though the game isn't actually fully lost. You should try to talk them down and outline a gameplan with your team in those scenarios, as comebacks are far too commonplace for you to be surrendering early.

/Fullmute all. there's nothing useful to hear in the in-game chat or by teammates pinging focus on improving your play and that's it.
