Shaco deceive fails

So i was a shaco main back in S2/3 when he was amazingly OP and FUN to play. I've been playing him again recently for fun, but i've noticed problems with his deceive (his blink). Quite often it is auto hitting anyone he goes near... this is fine for ganks etc, but when i use it to duke escapes i'm noticing it's getting my killed quite a bit... Anyone had this problem? i'm sure it's recent, anyway to fix it or this this a case of Riot trying to make shaco as easy as possible so u only have to click once!? i use 'shift q' as my activation so i don't have to shift left click.
