Why on earth did they change character selection?

Why on earth did they make it so that having a character selected but not locked in at the end of the character selection time just boots you out of the game? I've wrongfully been kicked out of like 6 games because I'll change last second (and be active) and don't have time to click "Select" or whatever the button is. What do we gain other than wasting 10 people's time (and making me wrongfully wait to join another game for ... 6 minutes before being allowed to requeue)?

It's there so the rest of us don't have to suffer through games with people who cant follow simple process and who cant decide on a champ in a reasonable amount of time.

You just need to wait for 5 minutes man.

An extra AFK Check. Why are you changing last second anyway? Not only do you get to pre-select the champion you wish to play, but also have the other people's bans and picks to think about who you could play.

@Inept Maverick Your response doesn't really address the question. It's not about "why didn't you select" it's about "Why did they feel the need to change that. Clearly if they selected a character during that 30 seconds, they're present. Why would they kick somebody that is clearly present out of the game." Often I pick a character and use the remaining time to redo masteries depending on the matchup, for example. It's useful time, particularly if you're the last pick (Nobody goes after you, you don't have any 'extra' time to select masteries or runes). Anyway, it's a stupid change that doesn't really benefit anybody, just costs people time.
