I think the root of Zed being frustrated is his shadow not being needed for doing dmg
Right now Zed's w living shadow is only a damage amplifier, basically means if you are good you can use it to increase or even multiply your damage(double/triple Q, etc), but he don't need to make use of its damage amplifier part at all to perform the purpose of his kit(assassinate) but instead only using it as a harass tool(wq extend range) or gap closer.
A player who mastered Zed can do all these flashy triple shurican things, but there is no need to go in depth of his kit to do the damage you need. Yes you can do more damage by using his kit to full protential, but using it only to a minimal degree is enough to kill people. Why bother doing all the fancy stuff when you can just RQEaa and kill people with no effort?
If Zed doesn't need to use his shadow as a main damage amplifying tool, he is nothing more than a Talon with gap close and there is no depth in his kit.
IMO Zed's shadow is the only ability in his kit that creates depth in his gameplay. Right now the most frustrating thing about Zed is his mobility(from w and r), and low risk high reward game play style(which is also mainly caused by his w and r). if anything should be changed it should be moving some of his power away from his QE(which are simple straight forward no depth abilities) and tie them with his mobility abilities(W and R, but imo W more importantly). Moving his damage to his mobility ability will increase the amount of decision making and skill involved with Zed's game play, and make it less frustrating to play aginst him.
