why are minion champs such a popular gimick?

Whats the deal with all the minion champs? how come their minions are so over powered? and her 3 tentacles that have no respawn CD whatsoever, and they do more damage on their instant slam attack that is nearly unavoidable to the point that you cant farm your lane instead you farm the tentacles that have a 5G reward. The towers dont touch them? really. Cheap all the way around. Not to mention in his infinite gayness where each tower does more damage level 3 than adc's do at full build. can solo baron with his minions. This gimick is terrible and toxic to enjoyable game play. IMO. Thoughts?
