Riot should implement adaptive damage on hybrid scaling spells
We have the framework for it, so why not help champions that can build differently actually flourish in their environment?
Now, I know what you're going to say:
"But Chicken! How can we realistically implement that? People are used to a spell being one kind of damage or the other!"
Well don't worry, because half the people that play this game don't know what spell deals what kind of damage to begin with. That, paired with the fact that just pressing tab will show you exactly what items the enemy champion has will easily enable you to figure out what kind of damage their abilities are going to be dealing.
We have the means, we have the reasoning to do so, we've done it before with runes, so why not move on to certain champion abilities too?
Why would this be important?
Champions like Shaco, Tristana, or Ezreal who can build full AD or full AP and deal lots of hybrid physical/magical damage are hard to itemize against properly or to build penetration on (which makes it very difficult to actually play full AD or full AP on the champion, because they have the means to do so but they don't have the proper damage types to back up their_ decision_ to do so). Ezreal is chunking you with physical damage AP scaling Q's and then turning around and smacking you with magical damage AP scaling W's. Shaco's boxes and clone deal magical damage, but his E dealing physical damage has made it really difficult for him to play as AP and be as effective as he once was (but AD Shaco appreciates being able to amp up his E damage with penetration, finally), Tristana would love for her E to deal magical damage if she builds AP, because it might make her AP build finally viable.
Remember, abilities that don't have hybrid scaling would not become adaptive. AD Tristana would still have a magic damage ultimate. Ezreal's W would still deal magical damage if he built AD, and so-on.
