@Riot: Question: WHEN should you play Miss Fortune?

Riot, I feel that you have done a great job in the past season in increasing the champion diversity in the ADC role. As I've always been fond of Ashe it has been great to be able to play her, a not-full-damage oriented ADC viably without feeling my team is going to be sold down the river for it. But as a versatile AD, I feel there are times and places for every pick.

Out of all the ADCs I play, I feel I know WHEN to pick them, which team comps support them well: Teamfight for Days: Ashe, Sivir Lots of Shields and Peels / DW We got this Late Game: Jinx, Vayne Just don't die: Caitlyn, Ezreal Win lane Win Game: Quinn First-picked and hard to counter: Kalista, Lucian, Graves Tank Buster: Kog'Maw, Vayne, Miss Fortune*

I've played around with Miss Fortune, and I thoroughly enjoy the idea of her lore and fantasy, and I look forward to the Bilgewater event and her new skin, which is what I had actually hoped for going into it - A badass pirate hunter skin that demands respect.

But what I've never really understood about Miss Fortune is WHEN it is a good idea to play her.

While I have no real issue with her Grievous Wounds being removed, I am just curious as to When you picture her being played at the moment.

-Miss Fortune is not particularly long-ranged, making her it relatively hard to seige turrets with her. -Miss Fortune can be a bit of a lane bully, but she must not take any minion damage, let alone return damage or she risks being caught because of low mobility, which is made easy by the fact that she is quite short-ranged. -Even if Miss Fortune is meant to be a lane bully, she is extraordinarily susceptible to ganks because her one CC ability has a noticeable cast time and she is practically made out of paper in the early game, so her kiting is quite weak.

TL;DR My real issue is that it feels like Miss Fortune does not have a specific identity right now, at a time when Riot has done so well crafting champions and kits around specific strengths and weaknesses. I understand there is history behind the character, but I'd really like to understand Riot's vision of her so I may better understand how to play and build Miss Fortune, and hopefully add her to my repitoire of ADCs.

But at the moment, it feels like she is outclassed by many other ADCs: there seem to be better choices in every aspect.

You pick her if you want great roaming power, scaling with fight duration, a devastating ult (you don't pop it immediately, you pop it when you know the enemy will have a hard time escaping and/or you already have stacks on your main target), and being a lane bully. As a Miss Fortune main, she is actually very strong when played properly.

Losing her passive to minion damage doesn't make her a worse lane bully, it just means you need to play more safely. It's not hard to harass the other lane with double up and keep your passive, you just fire a q at a minion that will bounce to them, and then walk away as the bullet travels. And if you have the side warded (as you should) you can see ganks coming from a good distance and use that speed to escape.

Yes, she does lack hard cc and on-demand mobility, but that's part of the challenge of playing MF. Her skill cap is based upon positioning (if it looks dangerous to go in, don't or skit the lines of danger) and identifying the best time for using abilities. Don't use Q when the enemy is in a swarm of minions (there is an exception, you'll want to look for the priority of Double Up.). You want to use it when you can bounce the second shot onto an enemy champion: It deals considerably more damage on the second shot than it does the first. Use her Ult when you already have stacks on an enemy, and ult when your enemies will have a hard time escaping the swath of bullets (the jungle is a great spot. Curse of the Sad Bullet Time is still a thing.)
