WHEN SHOULD I PRESS "R" AS KINDRED?

Glued to Kindred now that I've adapted to a plausible build with speed/crit & have been able to spar 1v1 against the variety of roles within the game. Only issue I'm experiencing in matchups is when to use the ultimate in order to make it a dominate factor with/without ally assist. It feels panicky and I seem to habitually active it when I'm in despair of health during a fight. I realize that it may not be the best in most cases to use for the reason that the seal grants the enemies with hp as like a baiting source but I have failed more than succeeded in instances of ulting when a fight goes down. Even afterwards I've tried jumping out the seal & sometimes it works when I got a decent item build but I've trailed to lose close matchups majority of the time denying myself the heal to create space between me and the opponent for more ranged hits against melee. Even with staying in the seal.. the heal that is granted on both ends plays in their favor due to burst skills dominating over the evasive skills of Kindred after the healing spell cracks.. I really could use some tips or input on strategic maneuvering to make it where the judgement is in my favor being that it's my ult but gracing benefit to who I'm fighting as well. Anyone can give scenarios that would help me? @teejvibes

If you are ahead, try to flank the enemy and pick people off, saving it for when they collapse on you and you are about to die. Get them low, use your E to prime the execute, and finish them off in one auto right as the zone wears off.

If you are behind, stay with your team and save the ult to protect your teammate that is the most fed. Try to place it more towards the back, not right in the middle, so the enemy can't stand in the zone.
