Make ranked great again

Corny title I know, but can we please talk about the current state of ranked? Now there are many many dynamic queue hate threads so the only thing I will say is this. It literally makes no sense to have premades and solo players ranked on the same ladder. There is no world in where this makes sense. Please get premades out of solo queue.

Anyways, what I really want to talk about is a players rank in general. The system has been far from perfect and rather than Riot spend all their time implementing new things or fixing champions it would be nice if they would take a look at what they currently have. Disregarding the fact that you now have premades in the solo queue ladder lets look at other common problems we see that have never been addressed.

Placements: This has bothered me for awhile and for a seasoned player the game still finds ways more common than it should to baffle me about ranks. Placements have always been confusing, especially at the start of the season. The soft ranked resets at the start of the season complicates this, but so does some other things that really should not be part of the equation. In a game that has 7 ranked tiers, 5 which have 5 divisions associated with them and the fact that to get out of the two lowest tiers (silver & bronze) you have to roughly be in the top 30% of players (at least by season end). This alone is something unique to this game. And since this is the case, shouldn't every division especially in silver and bronze mean something? Clearly someone who reaches a rank of silver 2 should be better at the game than someone in say silver 5 or bronze. Now it does take a couple hundred games for a player to more accurately reflect their elo, but placements in this game really are not helping any.

Players being placed too high: I think by now it is common knowledge that players, especially on new accounts, are almost always placed higher than they should be. In a game of grinding the ladder why is this? I can remember back in season 2 when I first started playing ranked how truly terrible I was at this game. Now granted, I am still not that great but I have learned a lot since then. When season 3 came around and they changed ranked to the current system with divisions and LP from the old elo straight number system. I was given a rank of bronze 4. Now did that sting my ego or pride? O hell yea. Because anyone who plays this game is "silver if not at least gold" am I right? I knew I had some work to do so I set out on the grind and after a couple of months I reached silver. I still remember how happy I was about that as I did find it as an achievement. And players still find solace in reaching silver . But I feel this achievement is not as great as it should be due to the shitty placement system. I have seen many players over the years be placed in silver who could not compete in bronze 5. I have a friend right now who just started playing this game maybe a year ago, doesn't even have 100 normal wins, still is learning the game and he was placed in silver 5 with like a 3-7 or 4-6 record. This baffled me since it is still early in the season, but the shitty thing is the longer this season goes on the more common this type of thing is. By the time we are in July, August, Sept you can literally win maybe 3 games and be placed in silver 2 or 3. Trust me.... I have alternate accounts and getting into silver is freaken nothing the longer the season goes on. Now this personally does not affect me since being placed silver 2 or lower does reflect my actual elo, but its a big middle finger to anyone who has grinded the season reaching silver or is still stuck in bronze but is way better than these players who just get this free handout. For whatever reason Riot has decided that normal accounts starting mmr should be equal to the top 50% of the player base so I believe the system just places most new accounts into whatever division the 50% mark is at the time. This idea sucks 1. because a vast majority of new accounts and players have a lot of learning to do and should be placed in bronze and 2. this game and ranked is about grinding right? Then why the hell do some players have to grind their rank and others are just placed way higher than they should be? I mean shit... my cousin last season got his account placed in like September and he got placed in gold 4..... Now the guy is a pretty quick learner and is pretty good but he is not a gold 4 player. He dropped to gold 5 0 lp like instantly and then quit ranked for the remainder of the season. But he did get a free skin and gold border..... meanwhile there were many of us in silver been grinding hard all year or years just to reach that achievement.

Side note: My cousin lost his login information to his old account so made a new one this season. He got placed in silver 5 and is stuck going between silver 4 and 5. Although I know he will continue to get better he is starting to see what a grind to gold really looks like.

Placement in 3v3 Dynamic queue has its own problems but the lack of sense placements play can be seen in 3v3 as well. I know a 3v3 team can consist of any skill variance of players where you can literally have challenger and bronze players on the same team. I am not bitching about that, but rather just the placements for teams here as well. Personal example: I have played many 3v3 games over the last 2.5 - 3 years. I have been on multiple teams with a variety of friends generally ending the season on these teams between silver 1 - 3. Yesterday I was playing on my alternate account that is currently in bronze 1 with a couple of silver friends. We made a new ranked 3s team, although we are on a 3v3 team we made last season that ended in silver 2. We dominated our first 4 games going 4-0 and then lost our last game in a 40 minute close battle to end our placements at 4-1. Our placement: bronze 3. Like... we have grinded the 3v3 ladder before and its whatever but wtf was the point of playing placements if you going to win 80% and still get placed into bronze 3. Maybe Riot decided to put their foot down and force teams to grind the ladder in 3v3? If that's the case then bravo. But please.... use that same concept in solodynamicboost queue as well.

**TL, DR Riot, you cannot have solo and premade players being ranked on the same system. That kills any competitiveness there is and makes ranks meaningless. You also cannot force some players to grind the ladder for ranks while simultaneously giving other players free ranked handouts. **
