Matchmaking Slightly Broken

So I was playing a ranked game and lost. I really didn't care about losing but the way my ADC was playing made me wonder why he is playing this this division. After the game I went to check his MMR at op.gg and it was 1600. My mmr is at 1800 which was pretty far from where he was at. Then I went to check the enemy ADC and his mmr was at 1900. My adc was 2/9 which was pretty unfair since he was GOLD 4 versus a PLAT 3 with 300 more mmr than him. It also said that the ADC's mmr is lower than average while the enemy mmr was better than average. Please allow match making to arrange the players with very close mmr to make it a fair game.

TL;DR: My ADC is matched up uncorrectly vs higher skilled opponent than him and the match making should be fixed.

Matchmaking has 2 primary goals:

Get players in games quickly, and Match players with similar skill levels.

300 mmr isn't that widespread of a gap all things considered, and getting it super accurate will likely cause games to take significantly longer to start.

Not that having matchmaking options to favor equal skill over time spent finding opponents wouldn't be cool, but time spent finding opponents is going to cause skill levels to fan out between players.

two things to consider:

  1. OP.gg, Lolking, and other sites like them use their own system of algorithms to determine mmr/lks which are not the same as riot's, so their accuracy is questionable.

  2. the 1600 adc was most likely duoing with someone with a much higher mmr. Also, keep in mind the system matches the overall mmr of the constructed teams, not the individual mmr of the players (in case there aren't a lot of players online within a specific mmr range, so that the teams are still fairly equal), and awards/reduces LP according to the MMR difference of the teams (if you win against a higher MMR team, you get more LP, and vice versa)

because of these considerations, we cannot say for certain that there was a match-making error, but do not worry, over time the system will make sure the player is matched against correctly skilled opponents. Just worry about playing the best game you can so that you can carry the weaker players ^.^

At least it isnt as bad as normal matchmaking.

My team: master, diamond 2, gold 4, silver 4, bronze 1

Their team: unranked bronze silver silver silver.

Felt really bad for them as we won like 63/12
